Hi Forum, I'm new but i've been reading a lot and i have a couple questions.

-i'm 5' 9'' about 150lbs. i'm fit, with a quick metabolism. i walk about 1 mile a day, and work out with running, and playing sports a couple times a week.

-I went 2 months clean, took a couple hits, and went another month clean.... then i went for a pre-employment UA (actually i've already signed the contract, i'm ready to begin as soon as they know i'm clean).

-I took 3 home tests before my UA, all on different days, I passed them all... one with 1st void of the day, 1 with the second void of the day, and one late in the afternoon.

-The morning of the test I drank 20oz of gatorade about an hour and change before the test, used the bathroom about 4 times and went to the test.

Labcorp said the results are available 48 hours after the test. Its been a week now, and I havnt heard from the Lab or from my employer. (I dont think the employer would call me if I pass, because they expect me to pass)

The question is:
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET RESULTS ON A LABCORP UA? When the technician told me 48 hours does that apply to both positives and negatives? Is the fact i havnt heard anything good or bad? (i know SEC has a lot of info on this stuff so maybe he can help me out.)

Randomly point to a thread in this forum and read it...chances are you'll find the answer to your question (due diligence is GOOD ).

You should call them up and just ask them if you passed because you weren't sure if you were going to or not and really want to know

No news = good news...the lab will call you if there is a problem, not if you passed (your employer will though if this is pre-employment, they'll call to offer you the job). If it's a random you'll know the instant they do if you failed to either fire you or tell you to begin substance abuse counseling.

i have read at least 20 threads on here and couldnt find one that directly relates to how long UA stuff to come in.

so i was hoping for a response from Sec because he seems to have very precise knowledge of lab testing procedure.

And how many threads did you see asking about when someone would know when the results were in and got the same answer jeff gave you?

As we both said, no news is good news...you have a start date and have not been told different. They're not going to call and tell you that you passed your drug screen and to go ahead and start on schedule. That is the point I was trying to make. You are expected to pass the drug test, period. If you failed it they would notify you immediately when they (HR) found out because they're going to call up the other applicant(s) and offer them the job instead.

The few pre-employment tests I have taken I simply went to work the day I was slated to start...nobody ever called to say "You passed, come on in!" It's just your nerves...relax...and enjoy your new job If you're really curious and can't stand it any more just call HR and ask them if there is anything else you need to do prior to your start date. That's innocent enough to not raise any red flags.

I hope you don't mind if I jump in a minute because I've been hanging around waiting for a couple results here. I have found in the past that a week plus wait is more of a human resource hang up more than a testing place like labcorp. You would get that dreaded mro call days before asking you if there was any reason you had something you shouldn't in your system.

One other thing is people who don't do drugs never call and ask if they passed a drug test. They call and ask if they have a start date. When company's test you, not many have a cheering squad who come out and congratulate you for not doing drugs. They expect you to pass. Most excessive waits mean passing. This has just been my own experiences in my many passes and failures..

i dont mind at all, this is a response along the ideas of what i was asking about.

as i mentioned in my first post, i've already been offered the job and been given the starting date. the only step left was for me to do the drug test. its been 1 week and 1 day since the test, with no word from anybody. so i do hope its just human resources being slow as usual.

if anyone else has other insight into UA result times, i'm all ears.

just took your advice and sent in an email asking whether there is anything else they need from me before my start date. THE ANSWER WAS NO!!! I PASSED! HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE (this will be my first serious full time as my college graduation is this coming week)

Congrats man! I remember my first job in my field after graduating...felt awesome Then I got laid off this January so now I feel like I did back in college lol. Full circle baby!

Anyway, glad to hear you're stressing and worrying is over...be careful though, especially if they have randoms and always keep some synthetic on you. I remember this one guy we hired about a year ago, poor fella. He passed his pre-employment test and a month later they pulled a random on some of us and his name came up. Well...turns out he failed it. I figured he would by the way he was acting after the test though. I bet his wife kicked his ass when he got home considering they just had a new baby and were looking for a house
