First of all I am 6'0'' 175lbs, and I normally work out a few times a week; with the except of the last week where i only ran once (last night) and have yet to hit the gym. I smoke 1-3 times a day. Due to certain circumstances, I was not aware I would be accepting this job, but I must. It is an engineering internship at a navy base under all the civilian engineers part of the DoD. I know that when military personnel are drug tested, they are observed tests but does anyone know the protocol for civilians working in this kind of position? I cannot ask the people handling my paperwork since my father is their indirect boss. I picked up a bottle of quickfix 4.2 and I plan on using it if I can. As a plan B I am also going to dilute in case they do an observed test or if they ask me to retest for any reason. I have only been clean for two days. \ Since my dad is the one who got me the job, I never really applied, I sent my resume and a coverletter and supposedly they are processing paperwork so I have no idea when and where the UA could be (if anyone has had a similar position at a base insight would be helpful). So some other quick questions about my situation: Should I try to exercise? I know that it will help get rid of the metabolites but I've heard if the drug test is soon, then its better not to since it will increase the amount of metabolites in my blood thus my urine since I'm burning more fat. Instead I was thinking about putting on some clean fat in the meantime. Can I effectively raise my creatine levels to an appropiate amount for dilution by eating a steak a day or any kind of food in general without a supplement? I am going nuts right now since in addition to not getting this job, I don't want my dad to get in trouble or people to know that his son smokes pot so anything would be appreciated!

Unsupervised. 50/15ng cutoffs. The tests are run by labcorp, its not any different than any other employment UA. I work for a DOD contractor.

This made me feel a lot better thanks man. Do you know for sure though that employees not through a contractor go through the same routine (maybe a co-worker )? The only reason I'm asking is that if all intern spots were taken, I was going to be hired by one of the contractors and work through them, which seemed to me like it was the contractor's company who does the hiring rather than the DOD. And as an update for my plan B dilution, no need to answer the creatine question I decided to just pick up the supplement. Last edited by eggplant1001 : 06-23-2009 at 06:55 PM. | |

Creatinine levels over 20 mg/dL are acceptable; while levels between 2-20 mg/dL are ruled "too-dilute". Creatinine levels under 2 mg/dL are deemed "not consistent with normal human urine" (aka 'substituted' specimen). Hope that helps some ![]()

No dude your confusing contractor and subcontractor. I work for a company that performs research projects for the dod, therefore we have the same testing system. We hire subcontractors in when we need cheap manual labor 50/15 is the cutoff levels for thc metabolites. If you pass the initial 50ng screen, you pass. If you fail they test at 15ng which you will surely fail if you failed the 50ng for real. Don't sweat it, hydrate yourself pretest, you'll most likely have to give bloodand fast for 12 before hand so if your like me you'll want to keep drinking h2o to keep your stomach from eating itself. I'm a microbiologist too so I happen to understand these things

As before, your post made me feel a lot better. I haven't looked into blood tests whatsoever, what are they testing for?

Its just standard part of your yearly physical you will have to get (and be tested) every single year. Its actually quite nice, they give you a print out of all your vitals. Cholesterol, sugar levels etc. Your growing up now, and as property of the US govt they want to keep you healthy. To tell you the truth they don't care much about the UA. Its one of those 'just make sure you pass it' deals, by any means possible. I know probably 1/3 of our office smokes, or does some other form of drugs and 9/10's of us have gov't clearances.

This is exactly why the war on drugs should be eliminated - it's too damned intrusive into the private lives of citizens...when employees are drug tested and it comes back as positive, there is another fully qualified person left unemployed. It's a shame. Good luck man. I'm not an expert when it comes to this area, so I wish you the best.
