Hi,

I am incredibly worried. I have landed a job of the life time... pending a urine test..

I stopped smoking on the 7th of this month (June) I am 5'10" 175lbs. So it will be just under 3 weeks at the time of my test tomorrow. I was a heavy smoker, every day usually more than once a day.

I bought an at home test this afternoon from CVS as I was advised after browsing these forums, and it told me I tested positive still. So I decided to sign up and post looking for advice.

I bought a giant Qcarbo 32oz. thing from GNC. I guess I'm supposed to drink it 2 hours before the tests (and pee a couple times before the actual "sample" I will give) before I go to the clinic.

I can go to the clinic tommorrow at my leisure...

Whats should I do? Am I going to fail?

I honestly thought 3 weeks would be enough, but now I have serious doubts. Please let me know if I need to post any more info. Any help GREATLY appreciated.

Why not substitute?

Those drinks are just an expensive way of diluting. They don't really do anything. If you can't substitute, then read up on the dilution sticky. It's too late to up your creatine (need to start 3-4 days in advance) so you might test diluted. Subbing would really be your best bet.

I have to go to a clinic, where I will likely be observed.

After reading the diluting thread, I'm thinking;

-Take 4 aspirin tonight before bed and drinking water all day today (already have been.)

-Then the afternoon of, taking 4 more aspiring, and drinking tons of water untill I pee clear.

-Then, 2 hours before I go for the test, drink the Qcarbo32.(This will be the same as taking B12 like in the dillution method since there is a crap load in the Qcarb0 drink.) I then Pee a couple more times and head over once my urine turns yellowish again...


At this point I cant think what else to do... FWIW there was a VERY faint double line on the at home tests (two double lines indicate negative) and that was without doing anything really, just a mid-day pee with no "prep."


I have a feeling I'm screwed.

They usually do not directly observe you. That is usually reserved for legal/military/government/etc. For pre-employment tests, it's usually someone standing on the other side of the door. Substitution is always the safest option when you feel like you're screwed.

I dont even know where I would get a clean sample at this point.

All my friends are smokers. And at my current job, if I go around asking for urine, I could run the risk of loosing the job I do have, in addition to the one I'm going for.

If I do fail tommorow, would I be able to ask for a retest? What could I say?

Would it be wise to try and delay it? I think if I ask they will let me, but that would only give an extra few days (the weekend really, cuz they'll schedule it for Monday, I know they will.)

Run to the nearest smoke shop, they probably have synthetic urine in stock. Read the substitution sticky.

If you fail, that's 99.9% going to be it for that job. Delaying may be a possibility, test the water.

There is a head shop near by, I could check there.

Although, the clinic I'm going to is doing a physical and a drug/alcohol test the HR lady told me. If the physical is first, and I have sythetic urine strapped to my leg, I'm screwed.

Its not like a Quest Diagnostics clinic where I walk in, pee, and go.

The HR lady from the job said I could expect to be there an hour for the physical and tests and everything. I'm not sure subbing is a good idea in this case.

I feel like 3 weeks of no smoking+diluting+qCarb032+crossing my fingers might be what I end up doing. I could delay it, but I dont think an extra few days will make a difference. (but it will make me look shady.)

I still cant beleive quitting for 3 weeks wasnt enough.

if you read the pamphlet on the at home test, i think it says that a faint line is still a negative. you may have passed

Yeah technically you could say I passed the at home test, but that was super faint. And it took the full 5 minutes the pamphlet said to wait for it to show up.

The "control" line however was dark red and showed up right away.

Basically I'm hoping by diluting, and then drinking the Qcarbo32 drink to turn my urine back to yellow-ish from clear I will get passing results. (I know now Qcarbo is a $50 creatine and B12 concoction~rip off. But whatever I'll just use it for its B12 and creatine.)

I'm eating red meat for dinner tonight. I just took 4 aspirin, and have been drinking water and pissing all day like crazy.

I plan on getting up around 9AM, picking up the paperwork from the new job place, then heading back home.

At that point, I'll take 4 more aspirin, drink tons of water and not eat.

Once my urine turns clear and I've pissed a lot, I'll drink the Qcarbo32 around noon or 1PM. Then 1 1/2 hours later head over to the clinic for the physical and drug/alcohol tests.

We'll see!!!

Maybe I'll get lucky and it will be a saliva test. lol.

Either way I will posts my result once I find out if I get the job and what-not.

B2 (Riboflavin) is the vitamin used to color urine, not B12.

It takes 2 days for the body to metabolize creatine into creatinine. Therefore the creatine in the detox potion is useless when consumed on the day of the U/A.

Because detox potions work via the dilution factor, utilizing both the Dilution recipe and the detox potion on the day of the U/A increases the chance of the sample being ruled "diluted".

Your best bet is to just follow the Dilution recipe and forget the detox potion.
