DOT Random Testing... Think I passed?

So I got randomly selected to take a drug test 9 days after smoking. Haven't heard a word about it, and never received a call from an MRO. It's been 2 weeks since the test. I thought I would have heard something by now if I failed.

I screwed up and blazed it with friends lastnight, and am a little worried. I realize if they JUST tested me, why would they test me again, but I can't help it. I'm paranoid!

What do you think?

Before the 9 days, when was the last time you smoked before that?

about 1 month... I'd say I've smoke about 3 times in the past 2 months. OH, and I passed several home tests a couple of days before I got randomly tested... so I'm pretty sure I passed the real deal. I just didn't know the timeframe for being contacted by an MRO if, say my sample was diluted and they needed another one...

Yeah that's kind of what I thought. I don't know if anyone is familiar with DOT random selection pool requirements, but do you think there is any possibility or any stories of people getting selected twice?

The facility I work at has KROLL come in and set up shop for about 2 months, everyday they pull random names, and I don't know if they take names out of the pool once they've been tested for that cycle. Seems like a waste of money to test the same person twice in a short period of time.

According to DOT regulations, the employer is supposed to draw randomly, then test evenly spaced throughout the year.

Yes, for example if an employer draws quarterly for truck drivers (FMCSA) or Coast Guard, they must draw at least 12.5% each quarter for a total of 50% tested for the year. Once you are drawn and tested, then your name goes back into the pool and you have the possibility of being drawn again.

For Pipeline (PHMSA), RailRoad (FRA), Transit (FTA) Airlines (FAA), the annual rate is only 25% per year.

KROLL is the contracted testing company. This is for the FAA, and some of the veterans say they drop by rarely, but that when they come they stay for a long time. I wonder if this means they test yearly and knock out the whole 25% over a 2 month period? I'm a trainie in a classroom so no worries about me killing anyone. I just wonder what the possibility of me being selected twice in a month are since I foolishly smoked lastnight.

Probably your chances are slim. It doesn't sound like the company is testing according to the letter of the law. Testing an entire year's worth of random draws in only 2 months is not the intent of the regulation. Employees are supposed to know that they could be tested at any time throughout the year, whether they were recently tested or not.

No, they are charged with the task of keeping the public safe. Considering the quantity of people and freight transported each year by various airlines and the sheer volume of flights each and every day, I'd say they are doing a helluva job.
