Here's my story...

I'm 5' 10", 145lbs and very thin with high metabolism. I'm very active in my lifestyle, regular gym usage and daily walks/bike rides. I smoked regularly for the last 4 - 5 years, mostly on daily basis. In April I stopped smoking completely. At the end of March I took 1 hit on 3 separate occasions, roughly 2 - 3 days apart. Since then, I have not smoked at all. Aside from pot usage I have used Valium, maybe 5 times over the last 2 months, Oxycontin about 50 times over the last 2 months and swallowed several Tramadol, Naproxin & Ibuprofin. My last usage was Oxycontin, takin on Sunday, 6/28.

Yesterday I took a urine test, a MedTox Profile II 5 panel test. I it was my 2nd void of the day, but still yellow. It was mid-stream. I was advised 10 minutes later that I did not pass the THC check, so I asked to see the results. I passed Opiates, Cocaine and the other 2, I can't remember off hand.

In the past, I've passed urine tests while smoking the day before and also the day of, on 2 seperate occasions. On another test, I was only 4 days clean. All of these tests were surprise tests and I was heavily smoking immedaitely before as well.

The company is sending the test out a lab, Nationwide Testing Association in Mooresville, NC. They are listed as the MRO on my receipt. Upon review of their website, I see it says they will attempt to contact the donor by phone if it's found to be a foreign substance to verify medications. How long does this usually take? The test was overnighted yesterday and should hopefully be received today or tomorrow.

I'm a little stunned that I failed in the first place and took no precautions citing that I would not have any trouble. I pleaded for a second chance if the lab shows I am positive and I may or may not get that. If I do not, I will still be taking other tests are potential employers but checking myself with hometests beforehand.

Some online research has shown that some of the medications I was taking could cause a false positive for THC, but how true is this and how often does it really happen?

UPDATE: Lab results are back, tested negative for THC. Who the hell knows why I failed the test strip first though.

Another update; when I asked what the deal was I was told my Creatinine level was 85% and that is what through the false THC positive.

I'm wondering, 85% of what?

Whoever told you this has no clue what s/he is talking about. Creatinine is checked to determine dilution and in no way, shape, or form has any bearing on how a drug assay reacts to drug metabolites or what not.

Also, creatinine isn't measured in percentages. It should read (for example) 85 mg/dl; which is perfectly normal. There are no upper limits on creatinine and anything below 20 mg/dl is considered to be dilute.
