Hi all. Here's my situation. I took a pre-employment urine test on Monday and haven't heard back yet. I think I probably passed it, but am interested in y'alls thoughts and also have another question. I was a chronic (quarter a day of schwag) smoker for the last decade. I'm 6'1" and 170 lbs. Pretty good metabolism. I quit on April 4 and immediately took a 15 day cycle of Vale's perma-clean. My test was May 10. That gave me 37 days clean, during which I drank about a gallon and a half of water a day and ran about 2 miles twice a week. The day of the test I didn't get to drink as much as I would like to have. Maybe half gallon of water. I also drank about a half gallon of double-strength powdered gatorade and took 6 aspirin (2 at a time, 4 hours apart, last 2 were 30 mins before test). I took 2 Walgreen's home tests in the week preceeding the lab test and passed them both, although the line was extremely faint. What do y'all think my chances are?

Also ... on Monday the lab and my employer both said they'd call me in a "couple" of days with the results. Today is Thursday and I still haven't heard anything. Naturally, I'm tired of being nervous (important test, as it is the first jjob of my actual career) waiting for the results, plus I want to start smoking again (haven't yet in case I'm diluted and have to retest or I'm positive and can talk them into retesting me). Of course I don't want to call the employer to ask for results -- that just looks guilty! But if I haven't heard anything by 4pm today I was thinking of calling the lab to get them. My questions regarding that are these: If I call the lab, will they give me the results, or are they just supposed to give them to said employer? Also, and more importantly, if I do call the lab, is the lab likely to tell the employer that I called?

I know this got long, so thanks for reading and taking time to answer my questions. I've read this board for a while -- y'all rock.

My questions regarding that are these: If I call the lab, will they give me the results, or are they just supposed to give them to said employer? No, the results are the property of your employer and the lab will not give them to you. Also, and more importantly, if I do call the lab, is the lab likely to tell the employer that I called? No.
I suggest you call your employer and ask 'when do I start?' Always work on the assumption that you passed. Remind them that a 'couple' of days has gone by and you are ready to start work. By no means call the employer about the test.
Also, why wouldn't you pass. You passed 2 home test. No reason to think you haven't passed this test. Hope that helps. N2

I failed a pre-employment drug test after 51 days off and after initially saying that they would grant a retest due to previous problems with false positives, the company finally refused to allow me to retest. It's too late for this job, but are there any clear-cut laws (I live in California) mandating that the employer grant a retest, even if it's at the expense of the person who failed...?

I really doubt it, but I couldn't find appropriate information on my own, at least yet. Thanks for any feedback at all !!! Now, it's been 63 days and I'll DEFINITELY be clean for the next one-will have to celebrate AFTER I start work...!
