*Chronic smoker since I was 16 (smoking nearly every day a few times a day)
*I abstained from smoking for just 4 full days prior to my test.
But seriously cut down for 3 weeks prior, only smoking 10 days out of 21 and only one toke a day no more.
*Pretty strong stuff!
*pre employment drug test at a pathology lab
*warm climate USA

I used the dilution method but only using water, OJ, green tea and lemonade.
No pills or anything.. Just the liquids above and a water soluble multivitamin in citrus flavor.

Ok so I wanted to sub because I didn't believe I could pass naturally, but I was too scared of getting caught with the sub.

My test was at 5pm but i had to undergo a physical, eyesight, hearing, and general medical check. I could have just subbed because they just handed me a cup and told me they would call my name soon, so i wouldn't have had to worry about temperature because they got my sample from me half an hour after i produced it.. and was directed to use the public bathroom. I had no idea I could have cheated so easily! But anyways.

I produced my sample did all the tests, then gave my sample to the doctor.

The next day I get a call from the company's HR department. The first thing he asked me was "did you take aspirin the day of the test?" and I did not take any so i replied saying that I dont take aspirin. they then asked if i was on any other medication. So I told him that I had just finished a course of antibiotics and cold and flu tablets. Which is true. And then He tells me that i have tested positive to opiates!! (but wooo hooo no mary jane!!) anyways we figure out that it must be because of the codiene in the cold and flu tabs. He tells me that despite it being a legal over the counter drug I needed to test negative to all substances. So They are giving me a week to test again and they have told me to take no cold and flu tabs for a week.

So basically I am wondering Why did he ask if I took aspirin when there is no codeine in aspirin? And aspirin as far as i know has nothing to do with testing positive for opiates.? ( I thought they might just be saying this, to obtain another sample, knowing that i diluted) But could they lie like this?

and how come dilution worked for the mary jane but not for the codeine??

Anyways the dilution method does work!! and if N2 was still arround I would kiss him. He truly is a god on this site and he saved my ass!

for my retest should i Sub or just dilute again?? And I wont pass naturally because i Had a toke after my first test not knowing i would have to take another, My test is in four days and i had my last toke yesterday.

You dont' need to do anything but NOT take any over the counter medication.

The medication you took shoudl not have shown positive for anything, including opiates. Aspirin has in the past been know to interfere with a THC test, but that hasn't been so for tha past 7-8 years or so. Drug testing has advanced to the point that any over the counter medication, taken according to direction, should not interfere or show as a positive on a drug test.
