Hi. I'm posting this request for a friend of mine (honestly) who recently failed a test for weed. She's pretty petite, about 5' 6" 115lbs and she last smoked on Halloween. She found out she would be tested last week, so she took a home test (first check) and passed with a faint pink line. This Monday she took her test at work and was told she failed. She contested and they will let her take another in the next week or so. So last night she purchased another home test and once again passed. That's 2 passed home vs 1 failed at work (which unfortunately is the one that counts). The morning of her test at work she said she took 4 motrin for cramps. Any chance that couldve triggered a fasle positive?*

Any suggestions as to what is going on? Can she feel confident taking the work test again?

What time of the day did your friend take the first home test?
And what time of the day did your friend take the actual U/A?

Actually I just asked her that. Her home tests were at night. Her work test was earlier - possibly her first void if the day. She doesn't remember for sure.

Well there you have it. She took her home tests at a time where normal, or even perhaps mod to heavy fluid intake as the day progressed have skewed the results.
When taking home tests, always use the first void in the morning when you wake up since its the most concentrated. If youre consistently passing home tests with the first mornings void, then you'll pass the actual U/A at any time of the day.

Thank you. She took her last home test first thing this morning and the pink line was very very faint. More so than before, but techically she did pass. But you obviously nailed the issue. Thanks again for your help.

One more quick question - any chance the actual U/A was tested for a lower amount of whatever they test for vs the home test? In other words, I think the home test is 50. Maybe the U/A only requires 20 or 15 or something?

Even if they did the GC/MS test with a 15 ng cutoff limit, a 50 ng Immunoassay is equivalent to the 15 ng GC/MS, even though the cutoff numbers appear different. See my posts in these threads to find out how and why:
