I am going to be going for a test for a state job, I am 6 ft 260 lbs. I figure it will be close to 2 monthes before i would have to take the medical exam. What kinda test will they give me? I have a shaved head so would they still be able to do a hair test on me? And one requirment is that you cant have smoked within the last year, can they tell that? I have started running 3-4 times a week, due to me being over weight do you think without any help I would be clean for whatever test they give me after 2 monthes? Thank ahead of time for the info.

I think you would be clean for a urine test, but you can buy a home test and test yourself to make sure. A hair test I'm not sure about, maybe ask in that forum. I do know they can take hair from under your arms or pubic hair to use also.

Ok this maybe extreme but, what about just shaving the entire body in about a week and just giving time for new hair to grow in? And how do you know what kinda test you will be getting? Thanks for the info

ok first of all if it is a state job and they are stating that you have to be clean from MJ for a year, there is a chance they can do a polygraph to validate that information. Urine tests you should be ok after a month or so. In reference to hair, they do not have to take it from your head, they can take it from anywhere on your body, I have heard that the arms and calves are popular places to take the hair from. You can't really shave your whole body because in reality this will not only arouse suspicion but chances are they will still be able to find some hair on you even after you go through the troubles of trying to remove it all.

Some jobs are finicky like that; all jobs are subjective in their testing according to their policies; you can't really know for sure how they are going to work things out there until you see the application and what they state in there as requirements for the job. And unless the specifically say that they are not, under law, allowed to do a polygraph (I know Maryland does not allow it) it is up to the discretion of the employer to decide to do it or not based on the person they hire.

I hope that helps you out; IMO, I would not go shaving your body quite yet. Cheers

I would guess that even if a polygraph isnt allowed for most jobs by a state such as maryland; there would be exceptions for state/government jobs. I'm sure that the NSA (hi spooks, nice work on security-enhanced linux) headquartered in maryland is one such exception.

Maybe call the HR department where you are trying to work and ask about their drug testing... from someone elses phone? You should probably check the hair testing forum for more information on that.
