| alright. confident about substitution and still hope that it doesn't have to go any further. i will dilute as backup and still have a question. if i am just having an emit test, does it automatically assess gravity, or only if they suspect something? by my caluculations, combining the N2 and S2's suggestions, i will need to drink about 4 qts of powerade in the two hours prior to the test, take 8 aspirin, 12 rolaids, and a b vitamin. i will also drink a lot (but not as much) for a few hours prior to that. do i still need to add salt to the powerade? am i going to drown in my own juices with this plan? is this gravity issue not an issue for just an emit test? help! |

| dr, SG is part of the urine validity check, not the drug screen/EMIT. In most cases, it is also secondary to creatinine levels, meaning that if creatinine levels are above the 20mg/dL cutoff, SG is irrelivant. Do a search for a post by 'FastLX'. He is a guru on SG and has a post on this board about is. Hope that helps. N2 PS, IMHO, 48oz is plenty of liquid. Heck, the gov study used to determin dilute levels only used 40oz in a 4 hour period. http://www.dot.gov/ost/dapc/main/waterloading.pdf

| thanks n2, but all this liquid must be making me dense. will they run a urine validity check as part of the emit, or only if there is something to suspect? i think this place is pretty laid back, so if the temp and color are right, and nothing comes out positive, is it likely that they will still do a urine validity, creatine, or sg test? or is that something that is built in to the emit test strip? hopefully by this time tomorrow, you won't have to be answering any more dumb questions from me. let me also say that i have scoured the internet for many days about drug testing and this is by far the most useful site/group of respondents. thank you all for helping keep my anxiety below suicidal proportions. |

| It is not part of the EMIT test. Urine validity checks may include any or all the following, color, temp, SG, creatinine, pH, nitrites, smell, and others. N2 |
