Question Specific questions about passing with previous dilution issue

Hello All,

I took a pre-employment drug test last week and the results came back as too diluted. I am to retest in two days. I am 10 weeks free/clean - prior to stopping I smoked heavily (2 to 3 per day for the previous 6mos. with more moderate smoking for the past 10 years). Weight 300. Height 5'8". Moderate/slow metabolism (more active in last two months). I'm a vegetarian and I naturally consume a lot of water as I stopped drinking sodas and such for lifestyle/health purposes. I only consumed one pint of water pre-exam but the test still came back diluted.

I took an at-home single panel test today to check my own levels. I got the control (C) line but only a faint T line. The test booklet says that any line, no matter how faint, qualifies as passing. However, I'm concerned that the faint level may be a false negative and I am therefore planning on trying different at-home kits.

Question 1: What indication should I get from the faint line on the T? Am I in the clear or am I moderately in the clear? Does the level of faintness or darkness indicate levels of toxin in the system?

Question 2: If my further at-home tests turn out positive and I see that I need to try passing dilution, how can I determine my creatine level before the test? As a vegetarian, I am concerned that part of my dilution result from the first test is a result of low/no creatine due to lifestyle.

Question 3: I've read online that I should consume fatty foods and limit sugar intake before the test but powerade (for dilution) and such contains quite a lot of sugar. Does sugar intake, or lack thereof, have any bearings on the results? Also, is it necessary or is it disadvantageous to consume fatty/fattier foods before the exam?

Question 4: Is it true that Quest can detect store bought toxin remover products? My understanding is that they have procedures to determine if any cleanser has been used, yet, the cleansers all say they are undetectable.

Question 5: I read in a previous post about checking SG with a pet store item. How does this work and what should normal levels read? How accurate is this method of checking SG?

Thank you, in advance, for any help you can offer. The posts I've read thus far have been great and the responses from folks like N2 have been superb.

Take care,
qs

1. A faint THC line should be interpreted as a negative result; however, you should take it to be near the cutoff and so it is going to be a little more tricky when you come to the labs; diluting should alleviate any ambiguous results. The faint lines on some tests mean you are near the 50ng/ml cutoff level, but others will be faint or dark depending on the test you take. Read the test instructions about interpretation carefully.
2. If you take a home test the C line will most likely not show up if you are too dilute or too low on creatine; consider loading on a supplement of creatine 72 hours prior to the test in order to build up creatinine in the urine.
3. There is no real evidence fatty food helps. Sugar is contained in powerade but these electrolytes help to keep S.G. levels up in your urine, advatageoud when you are dealing with dilution. The day of the test the sugar in the powerade does not make any difference.
4. The labs can detect adulterants but not the drinks which for the most part are just water, creatine, vitamins, and sugar..
5. You can test your own diluted urine with a pet store hydrometer, which measures the salt levels in reef/saltwater aquariums. For this device you need a sample of your urine and you measure your specific gravity. Normal urine with no dilution hovers around 1.020; diluted urine is still passing as long as it is above 1.003, DOT standard. 1.000 is pure water. This tool is useful to figuring out how much water or powerade you can consume before you drop below acceptable validity checks.

Cheers.

1, if your urien was relitivly concentrated, yellow, and you got a faint line, you're likly OK. If the urine was relitivly clear and the line was faint, a more concentrate sample may test possitive.
2, you can't, well, I think they sell ceratinine test strips on the web, but it's likly to late to order them now. Go to a nutrition store and buy some Creatine supliment and start loading tonight.
3, to my knowledge, the food intake is mainly theory. No solid scientific studies I know of. Power aid or gatoraid is good. Look for post by FastLX. He is our specific gravity guru.
4, no. Any 'detox/flush' dring is undetectable, but they all work on the dilution theory.
5, very accurate. Again, refer to FastLX post. use the advanced search at the top of the board.
Hope that helps. N2
