Default diluted?

First off, let me say this site is a fantastic resource. Not only for information, but for giving people peace of mind.

Here's my question.

I've been through a looooong interview process, and as a precaution I stopped smoking. Turns out a drug test is required. No problem as it had been almost 6 weeks.

Still, being overly cautious, I drank a lot of fluids about 3 hours before the test.

Here's what I drank: one 32oz gatorade, about 20oz of water, and a Red Bull. Also had my usual multi-vitamin.

I voided 2 or 3 times before the test. Test sample did not look 'watered', but was not a raging yellow either.

Had been eating beef, chicken, pork this week.

Is this too much dilution?

Nope, not enough to drop below the cutoff. Ease your mind. For scientific purposes, and as an FYI, normal urine has a specific gravity (salt and electrolyte levels) of about 1.020. To be considered dilute you have to be below 1.003. With dilution as you followed, I would see it as next to impossible that amount of water would drop your urine below 1.003

Cheers to you and good luck!

Thanks for your input.

Do you think it covers the creatine part as well?

well, it most likely will not be a problem with creatinine either (the active ingredient in our urine once creatine is broken down) but keep in mind that even if your creatinine levels are low and your specific gravity is in check, they will accept the sample. Either validity check that passes is enough to consider it a valid sample.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

Read your post. Just wondering how long did you smoke before your 6 week abstinence? Were you a rare, occasional or chronic smoker?

Thanks
