i just got word i will be accepted as an apprentice at pearl harbor but i got a physical this saturday. ive been smoking for a year straight everyday about 4 times a day for the past year. ive stopped a little over a month ago. i know for a fact that they will collect urine and blood from me. im 5'5 140. will it still show up in my urine. thanks

it is possible without dilution to still test positive since you were a very chronic smoker, but I think you should be ok. Have you home tested yourself? I would do so this week before you go to the real test. Also, I would not suggest giving your first sample of the day, pee at least twice if you can before giving the sample, and have a couple glasses of water the morning of the test just to keep yourself hydrated.

P.S. The blood should not be a problem; it remains in blood for much shorter periods of time

hey mela thanks for theinfo...do u know what kind of test the federal gov gives? i have a physical at 630 in the morning so i dontknow when they willbe giving the actual drug test. should i take aspirin and vitamin b12 along with creatine?? im planning on paying for a test to be done at this lab it cost 30 dollars but its for a good cause!

i got one more question. i got to do a security clearance thing and they ask me if i have done illegal drugs within the past 7 years. i said i stopped in january. ive noticed that labs dont report anything under a certain cut off point but since the government is doing it will they use a minute level against me?? also should i used aspirin or is it useless in my case?

they are probably going to do a dipstick type test with a 50ng/ml cutoff. The creatine is not necessary since loading on creatine needs to be done a few days in advance. The vitamins are a good idea, as is the test. Good luck to you!

I know the federal government follows very same regulations as most private drug testing companies, the initial screen confirmed by the GC.

well, if you lie, they wil most likely polygraph you to make sure; then, you have nothing that you can hide; my suggestion would be to be honest, because if you are not, they will most likely will find out anyways. The government, unfortunately, basically has no rules when it comes to how they conduct their screenings, background checks and such.

That is why I have never thought of working for the FBI; sure I could pass the tests, but the polygraph would catch me hands down

hehe i highly doubt i will get a polygraph test for this job...it is just a security clearance because i will be working around nuclear reactors and such. but i think ill just put down that the last time i smoked was march or something.

it depends on the type of security clearance. they do not typically give polygraphs for a secret clearance. but if it is a top secret, they usually do the lie-detector. though i have heard they don't ask "life-style" type questions.

they will check your background, so if you have been arrested (even if you weren't convicted) for anything (even 1 joint) they will find out. and if you neglect to put that on your security clearance forms they will make your life hell. just speaking from experience....

if you put that you have smoked (especially recently), it will take a lot longer to get your clearance, and you will probably have to have an interview with a DoD agent. speaking from a friend's experience...

i gotta agree with mela and say that honesty is the best policy. because if they find out you lied, then that gives the govt another reason to possibly deny your clearance.

also top clearance usually involves finding your friends and askikng them about you too, so if you lie, they will find out one way or another......good luck!
