Here's my situation. It's a little different...

I got laid off in March and have been mostly abstaining from smoking in case of pre-employment drug testing, so I have only been smoking once or twice a month since April, and the last time I smoked was 2 1/2 weeks ago because we went to a festival and I consumed I don't even know how many weed brownies!!

I had to take a pre-employment urinalysis this morning, so I made sure I took a lot of aspirin and drank a ton of water and took a B-Complex this morning before I went to the test this afternoon.

My height is 5'7" and I weigh about 165 (mostly from sitting around with nothing to do). I was going to the gym a few times a week, but haven't been able to this month. The test was Quest Diagnostics 35533N SAP 5-50/300 GC/MS. And from what I read in the forums, that is the EMIT with a GCMS confirmation.

Here's what makes my situation different. I take Fiorinal for migraines, which has Butalbital in it, which shows up as a positive for Barbituates. I have taken it already a few times in the last week (I guess the stress of the job situation), but abstained since I found out about the test - about 48 hrs. I'm not worried about the positive for Barbituates, because I have a prescrtiption for the Fiorinal.

But if the EMIT comes back positive for the Butalbital, do they run the GCMS for all dugs or just to confirm the use of the Barbituates?

Also, when I asked the nurse if there was some way to let them know in advance that I take this medication, she said NO, and that the lab would contact me if something comes up positive. Is that true? If so, when do they contact you? After the EMIT or do they go ahead and do the GCMS to confirm and then contact you?

This is just too much stress for me!!!
