I keep seeing GC/MS pop up around here...what exactly does that mean? That is what I have to take tomorrow, after my test yesterday came back Diluted (same GC/MS test).

Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry or Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer. Pretty neat machine; sends a beam through the sample and different wavelengths show up to confirm the presence of certain substances (I used to use one in Organic Chemistry

)

Thanks melanotaenia! I actually understand what that means....My job is to place chemists at a Biotech company and they all have to know mass spec.

Anyway - I noticed that my second test indicated I was taking an SAP 10 or something like that and followed by that was the GC/MS. My first test only had the GC/MS. Can you define the second test I took? Was this harder to pass?

SAP=Substance abuse panel; 10=number of liclit/illicit substance panels that are used (benzodiazepines, opiates/opiods, tricyclics anti-depressants, cocaine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, cannabanoids, etc.) These are much easier to pass in terms of THC since the cutoff is only 50ng/ml

I work on a study for the government on drug abuse and substance abuse; I also work on other research for the government; needless to say, I have been exposed to almost every different drug test a hospital, probation office, or lab will administer; for this reason, I know WAY too much about this stuff, but it helps to get people on here to pass their tests and not let MJ ruin their careers.
