| Hi, my employer had me do a random drug test that I was not prepared for(they have been doing random test for 8 yrs now, this is my first time). I drank about 3 gallons of water before the test, but my urine was not clear so I feel I have failed the test( a daily smoker). So I am expecting a notification shortly(the wait is going to kill me!!). Anyway I have a good job and hate for this test to ruin any chances for promotions in the future(I have a chance of getting my bosses job 5 yrs down the road)(my employers policy is not to fire employees for testing positive, but letting the employee have a chance to get help and get "clean", but even so i think it would hurt my chances for moving up in the future). Anyway, what I was wondering is when they tell me I failed the test, if I scream bloody murder that a positive for THC is absolultly impossible, would they more than likely accept my response(I am a well liked and hard worker in managment) and let me retest or is it possible they may say sorry for your luck. If they let me retest would it more than likely be treated as a random, or would they treat it as a suspision?(will they want to watch me give the sample or worse have me submit a blood or hair sample??) My back bothers me a lot and I take ibuprofen like candy (800mg every five hours up to 4 times a day) I read on these forums that Ibuprofen, contained in Advil, Nuprin, and Mortin, can make a positive result for marijauna. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I am now not going to smoke anything and I am going to try to get some clean pee so I will be prepared for a retest if they let me. Thanks in advance for any replys. Also. IMO it is BS they test me for something i do in the privacy of my own house and never on the job. But this is america!! Thanks ![]() |

| i took a drug test a couple years ago and failed and lost my job. it ended up being all good though... i got a much better and much higher paying job afterwards. it's a major company that doesn't do drug tests. at least you have a chance. after i failed my test, there was no 'get clean' period even though i was the best graphic artist the company hired at this point (directv). they offered to retest but they HAD to use the same sample i gave. the funny thing is almost the entire dept i was working for was laid off about 6 months later. i felt bad for those employees but i felt good i wasn't in their shoes anymore. good luck bro. try the synthetic urine, or if you can retest in a month, do it legit. |

| usually there is no way to counter a positiver result; you can demand a retest but it is up to your individual employer, and most companies will not let you take a second if you fail the first unless the test is inconclusive or shows up dilute. But at least you will not be fired; that is pretty generous of your employer to allow for you to get clean; but if you do go through this "get clean" stage, don't smoke again until it is over. | I was fired from my job of 15 yrs for a postive pe test. no second chances. company gave a 2 yr. grace period. however company was flawed in putting forth the policy. the union contract states certion conditions that the company did not meet. my question is how do I bring a suit . union was little to no help for me.any advice would be great. |

| find a lawyer; plain and simple; try NORML.com; I know they have lawyers who deal specifically with cases related to MJ |
