| Here's my story... I applied for a job arox. 8 months ago with the county ( I was clean at the time) and even was asked to return along with another 75 people to take the written exam. Needless to say,I passed the exam for the job position BUT was told that if we dont contact you by July 23 we won't be hiring you. Well I never got a call UNTIL 9/16 and asked me to come in for an interview, which I did. WELLLLLLL guess what? They called me yesterday and asked if I want'ed to except the job position, and I of course said YES. She then stated that there would be alot more paperwork to fill out, and a health exam etc. I asked her what the heath exam entailed (this position is at a hospital, but I dont work IN the hospital, just their Customer Service Rep. dept.) and she stated things like...regarding the flu season, and a TB test and if i could life 40lbs without any problems etc. BUT NEVER mentioned a pre-employment drug test. I would figured that since it's a county job, they would defiantly test you?!?!? YET when I went in to the HR dept. 8 months ago to fill out the application for the job, they never gave me anything that stated anything about a DOE or pre-employment testing, nor did she mention anything when she interviewed me, plus I went to the website and looked up hiring procedures and it say's nothing about pre-unemployment testing?!?!? NOR when the HR manager called to offer the position to me, did she ever mention a drug test, just the things I stated above. Regardless, I'm staying clean for now, just incase. I have aprox. 2 weeks to get my system clean. A friend of mine said, I don't think that the county tests all 16,000 employees, he thinks that they only test for certain job positions, not positions such as mine, which consists of sitting behind a desk and taking phone calls with 30 other employees all day. What do you all think? I'm so stressed about this...I have a job offered to me, but don't know if I will be tested. I want to celebrate and go out to dinner, but I'm so stressed about NOT KNOWING IF I REALLY WILL HAVE A JOB, just incase they do test me, even though I might even test clean by the time they do decide to test me, BUT it's the NOT knowing that scares me... Sorry for the long post. I needed to vent. I havent told anyone about my job offer, and it sucks, cuz I dont want to feel embarrest if by chance they do test me, and it comes back positive and I don't have a job. ![]() |

| Guess this post must be to long...nobody's responding .Anyway, I also found this... Each applicant, or eligible, must be in good general physical and mental condition and able to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. An applicant who has been made a conditional offer of employment may be required to submit to and pass a job-related medical examination that is consistent with business necessity. WHY don't they just state that they are DOE. Wouldnt you think that they would mention that, somewhere? |

| I htink its highly likely that a govt agancy would test but it is odd that the papework doesnt say it and no one has said it-- thats a good sign but who knows? |

| It's just very strange. I've looked over ever single piece if documents on all their hiring process, and there is NOTHING on them being a DOE or even doing a pre-empoy. drug test. I have to stop driving myself nuts with this..I've read about 200 pages on everything there is to know about this job and company, and NOTHING, NADA, ZERO info.on testing. ![]() |

| If they're going to test, they are required to state it on the job application form that you complete and sign. Frequently, but not always, the application will also state that the employer reserves the right to conduct a random test, at their discretion. I you're AB-SO-LUTELY sure that you read the application form, most especially the fine print, and didn't sign an authoriation to test, you should be OK. Myself, I wouldn't risk it! |

| OH i'm staying clean for good after this time...it's just do damm stressfull . I even have a copy of the application I filled out . So I'm pasting the section where you sign when your done filling it out, and this was the only fine print on the application.SIGNATURE CERTIFICATION: By entering or signing my name below, I certify that every statement I have made in this application is true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that any false or incomplete answers may be grounds for not employing me or for dismissing me after I begin work. I understand that I will have to produce documentation verifying identity and employment eligibility in the U.S. I understand that I may be required to verify any and all information given on this application. I understand that this completed application is the property of the County of and will not be returned. I understand that the County of may contact prior employers and other references. I understand that I must notify the Department of Human Resources of any changes in my name, address, or phone number. |

| I went Trader Joe's and got a few gallons of Pure Cranberry Juice..lol and Organic Green Tea, which I drink 4 cups a day of anyway for the last 4 years anyway.Eeck, this Cranberry juice is so stong and unfiltered. If that doesnt do it,then I don't know what will...except sub. I'm guessing thou that Pure Cranberry Juice is much better then that concentrated stuff. I realize I'm prolly talking to myself, but i have nothing better to do today, so indulge me plz. ![]() |

| Nah, I popped back by... Yeah, the cranberry juice & aspirin regimen did it for me. Smart to have a copy of the appllication. If you're going to be tested, you have to sign something authorizing it, because the results are confidential medical resords. You have to give permission for the employer to receive the results. So if you haven't signed anything allowing a test, you should be OK. Good luck! |
