Hello..six months ago the company my husband works for told all employees that they would start a random alcohol and drug testing via urine tests. My husband has smoked most of his adult years, but when the notice came out he decided to quit. The testing started in August, and he was "tapped on the shoulder" to go take a test. We heard nothing, and assume he passed. Last week we went to Las Vegas for vacation, and have a friend who grows pot, and a lot was smoked. Monday when my husband went back to work, he was chosen to be tested. The only thing he did was to take some ibuerofen the night before and that day. Well today the test came back and it was positive. He was called in, and actually denied it, had to. Well, he has to go back tomorrow, and here is my question, finally. Does Nexium the drug for ulcers, etc. affect the test. I thought I saw somewhere where it gave a false positive. He takes Nexium every day. Tonight he is drinking gator aide, cranberry juice, and taking some b vitamins, thanks to the help here. The Nexium pill just may be his way out. Any advice would sure be appreciated. He has to report to plant manager first thing in the am. Thanks so much

I asked the question about Nexium last night and didn't get any replies, so wondered if I should have said that Nexium was a drug my husband takes every day for acid reflux. He got suspended from work today, and cannot return until he passes a pee test. He requested they check the other sample they took this past Monday. They divided Mondays sample into two. To remind you, had to quit smoking six months ago due to the new drug policy at his work. He had one test 6 weeks ago, and passed it. So, I guess the Nexium wouldn't interfere. Darn. Just curious if anyone has had an experience with Nexium, and pee results. Another question, since the urine had set somewhere since Monday, do you think it will still show positive? We aren't sure what to do at this point. Think we will buy a drug test kit and start testing at home. I've read this board some so know some of your great suggestions. It makes me so mad that people can dictate what we do on our own time. The manager of his plant said this morning, that my husband was their hardest worker, and in fact, there were people he would love to fire. OH, the company has a program called employee assistance program. The Mgr. said he thought he should call them for help. My husband said he thought that was admitting he had a problem. Anyway, thanks to you all for your posts here, and if anyone has any other ideas please post. Thanks so much.

There is no evidence to suggest that nexium causes a false positive for marijuana; he can argue that it was the nexium, but chances are the argument will fall on deaf ears; very rarely will a drug test result be reversed for marijuana based on other medications.

Melanotaenia..thanks so much for the information on Nexium. An update, this afternoon we decided not to have the other half of the speciman from Monday tested. We called, and have to ask for it in writing, costs $150, and could take from 10-15 days. Since my husband is suspended, we don't have the time, plus, the retest was up to my husband. So, we bought two home tests today named "Peace of Mind". We don't know when to test, this is such a bad deal, anyway, he thinks he should test on Sunday, and see if its clear. If so, he could call the plant Monday, request to see the plant doctor, go for the test, and hopefullypass. If on Sunday he doesn't pass with this home test, we will try some of the suggestions here. Dilluting, excercise, red meat would be the only way we could go. My husband is 6'0, 199 pounds, active, but not a real high metabolic rate, I don't think. Anyway, sorry I've rambled on, just so nice to hear from someone. I thought noone was answering because I didn't know to put his weight, etc. Yes, I read it after the two posts. I do appreciate you and the others here who take their time to help people like us. As you know its upsetting not to be able to do what you want on your own time. Now he will have to quit for as long as he works there, the one thing he really enjoys doing. Well, thanks again, and I'll let you know how we do.
