If a lab finds detoxin in urine, is it a crime? If you pass the quick test where they soak a strip that turns color, are they likely to send the rest of the sample to a lab? If so, how long does it normally take for the results to come back? If they do send it to a lab, do they have to tell you?

If its a test required by law like probation or Commercial drivers license, yes there can be legal consequences. If you pass the initial screeening it is very very rare that the test would then be sent in for addtional analysis unless adulteration was suspected. Reporting results varies. for the inital screen it rearely takes more than a day or two-- they only report the results to the client-- i.e., the employer if its pre employment. It is not a good idea to pester for the results if you are not the client-- it raises suspician since a non-user wouldn't even consider failing and wouldnt have much interest in the outcome. employers almost never tellresults, they just move forward iwththe employment process or contact you and tell you sorry but they wont be needing you at this time after all.

| This may just be a policy of the some companies rather than regulation or law, but I know that many drug testing companies call YOU if you fail and tell you "You tested positive for ______, we are required to tell your (prospective) employer." So that you at least know the stick is coming down. =/

OK, I feel better now. I was hired after the quick screen. The paperwork had a blank space for a lab and it must of been a generic paper. No calls on the subject. No, I did not pester anyone. I know better. What sucks is this company pulls randoms. Any suggestions?

Many people view random drug testing as an infringement of rights, as an insult, and businesses know this. Therefore, they must have had good reason to implement a policy like this knowing how some employees would view it. You can therefore either deal with the random drug tests, or find another job. It's unlikely that their policy will ever change, as it would never have been implemented in the first place if they didn't have good reason. (people using heavy machinery, etc) Now, as for dealing with the random drug tests, it helps to know what kind of test they give you. If they always use a standard employment drug screen, the kind where they don't watch you give the sample, it wouldn't be particularly difficult to get around. You can use substitution each time for an easy, guaranteed success (although that can get expensive the more you do it). The cheapest way would be to find a friend that can give you clean urine, then train yourself in a way to hide it, transport it, and keep it at the proper temperature.
