And I didn't get the results yet. They send it off to a lab. On my paper, it said it's a 5 panel non-dot test? What does this mean?

non DOT means they don't follow the dilution standards of a specific gravity below 1.003 and lower than normal creatinine levels. DOT tests are more stringent in terms of validity checks and the like, so your test was most likely a 5 panel "dip stick" type test without any checks for dilution or adulteration.

Well in the case where you know beforehand it would be a good thing because it means you can load your body with water and dilute to the point where you are urinating water, and you won't be flagged if they don't check for validity, something that every DOT job will do. A DOT job has a cutoff level of 1.003 for specific gravity; keep in mind that pure water is 1.000, 1.003 sounds low, and it is compared to normal urine which is about 1.020, but you would be suprised how quickly the level drops with the consumption of liquids i.e. water. Creatinine is also checked, though this level can fluctuate much more than the specific gravity can.

Big Frank still hasn't heard anything from the lab or my new job, and it has been 72 hours, does that mean that I passed? I am supposed to start orientation tomorrow, but I've known that date for three weeks. I would think that they would get back to me if I failed. Is this usual for a 5 panel non-dot test? This could be Big Franks swan song here.

wait until you receive your first paycheck; that has always, and will always be my mottor for anyone who too the time to clean our for a pre-employment test.

Well, I am working at my new job, flossing my new found wealth, and getting sucky sucky at all the asian massage parlors, so I must have passed my test. My test was on the 3rd of January. Thanks for all the advice.
