They can test 100 people a day, (and sometimes they do) without spending the gobs of money it would cost the state to send all these people to the labs where they test for SG, creatine levels etc. If you fail the emmit it then gets sent to the lab, and they test for EVERYTHING. It would be very costly for the state to test all these people at say, Quest. Keep in mind, most people do not research this issue and are not cognizent with dilution methods and such. I don't even think many probation officers are aware that diluting ones urine can produce negative test results. But, it's probably just a matter of time. In my experience, if you report to your PO on time, pay your money, don't get in any legal trouble, and pass the dip stick test, basically show that you respect the "system", things go pretty smoothly.
But, perhaps other states have contracts with the drug testing Labs that test for the forementioned specifics.
