i have taken a pre-employment test at quest diagnostic before, and neither them nor my company told me that i passed. i took the test on a thursday, and waited a whole week before smoking again. guess it was all negative since nobody ever even mentioned the test again.

Thanks for the info. I'm so glad people here are so helpful.
Still, I'm wondering if there are folks out there that have failed or came up diluted with a test from quest with similar experiences to burnin' (that is that quest contacted them and told them the positive result and that they were going to notify the employer).
If you are reading this and can chime in, it would be appreciated.
It seems like I must have passed as no one has called or emailed, so I'm done with the worrying for now.
Didn't help that my grandma just died saturday and when asked the question of what I was doing (over and over and over and over and over again) I told everyone that I got a job.
Makes one a bit more paranoid.
It would suck to find out I failed and lost the gig. I'd have some 'splainin to do. not pleasant.

BTW, today is day 10 since the test which is actually 6 or 7 business days. I know that MLKjr. day is a business day for the company I applied to, so that's the maybe. I don't know, but I think the test companies don't have days off bc they have their own couriers and are dealing with fresh samples all the time. Anyone have the definitive answer on that one? ;-)
I still haven't heard from anyone, so I am feeling that it's all good.
I emailed the recruiter to 'make sure everything was in order' and find out if they will need transcripts from school. I can only guess that he's been super busy trying to fill the training class (starting in Feb), doing paperwork, prepping stuff, and recruiting people for the next class (starting in march). If I don't hear back by tomorrow,I'm going to call and 'check in'. I'm hoping that I can make it sound like I'm just following up.

I just called quest and told them that I tested on the 15th and that the test admin told me that there was a chance that I was diluted and would need a retest. The lady told me to call my employer. She said that the employer has a special number to call when they screen to obtain results. She advised that I should call my employer to find out if there were any issues.
She also told me that they usually have results between 24 and 48 hours after the test available to the employer. I guess it's possible that my employer hasn't had time to check?
I dunno.
I'm calling tomorrow. Gonna make sure I don't have to order a transcript from my school. That ought to give them an opportunity to express any concerns that they might have.

When I failed my pre-employment test given by Quest they first called the employer and said that I needed to call them. The employer called me and gave me the number to call. After Quest told me I failed I called the employer back and told them myself I failed. Quest was going to call them anyway so I figured I'd be up front about it. They said no problem you can re-apply in 90 days. I'm sure they'll jump at the chance to hire me again. Been clean for 48 days since then.

Okay,
So first off, thanks to those who responded.
Yesterday, I found out from a bud who works for the company I applied to that the recruiter in charge of me has been out of town for a recruiting trip. I don't know when he left and I don't know when he is coming back. So all my confidence is once again shattered.
My *NEW* question is, does anyone know if Quest removes my info after a certain period of time? In other words, they told me that the employer has a special phone # to call to check on tests. If a certain amount of time elapses, does Quest take the info off?
I am so tired of waiting to hear if all is good. My good friend said he passed after both a 9 day off period and a 12 day off period, so I THINK I'll be okay with my dilution method.
I hope the recruiter had time to check the results already and that all is good. If he waited this long to tell me I don't have a gig, I'm gonna be VERY upset.

It seems I have passed all, I wanted to let you all know.
I finally heard back from el recruitador who apologized for not returning my emails and explained that he was out o town until today.
He told me that he is checking with another guy about my transcripts, and if I needed to do anything he would let me know.
I told him that I just wanted to make sure everything was squared away before I started in a week and a half. He told me that he appreciated the excitement and that I was available to harrass him for information any time I wanted.
He's been gone since tuesday and didn't have time to check his email before he left. He got it today and called me right away, which I am taking as a good thing.
Plus, if there was a problem, he woudln't BS about it and string me.
No news is good news. Verified.
My best friend had a similar experience. Nobody told him either.

HERE IS WHAT WORKED FOR ME:
Stopped smoking the moment I knew I had passed the phone screen (the day I was asked for a first interview)
Previously, I've been a pretty regular user for a few years. I would say that until the last 3 months or so, I puffed at least once a day. I rarely drink and haven't been drunk in almost 2 years. Weight: 190 Height: 6' Kind of slim semi muscular male w/quick metabolism ISO quick, relatively painless method of passing a drug test.
Drank water. Alot of water the whole time. I'm still drinking 8 to 10 cups a day. If you've never done this before, it feels awesome. Lots o energy, I wake up clearer, no more overnight sore throats. Hydration rocks.
I got four home drug kits on line for $30 or so, with overnight shipping. Started reading posts here to find out what the hell a drug test was. This was my first. They are no fun.
Tested mid-stream sample on day 5. Passed. (I was drinking a lot of water)
Tested first thing in the morning, midstream on day 8. Failed (or did I - the line was so faint that I actually thought in my head "If it were me, I'd call it positive." Immediately freaked.
Oh THERE'S the stuff about first one of the day being full of toxins.
Tested mid stream sample day 10. Passed. My friend came over after work. It was monday and he had been smoking like a fiend all weekend. He was clean too.
I just about Shat.
WEnt out, got some b12 and a bottle of water.
Day before the test and day of test, I took a 'loading dose' of creatine supplement powder. Took 2 500 mcG b12's a day too. Drank alot more water.
Tested.
99.99% sure there is no problem.
Read the stickies about the dilution solution. Sounds like it works.
