Hey,
I've been checking all of this out for a while now. I got my job offer, and took it, knowing that I would have to take a test.
Here's the background.
I'm 6' tall and weigh about 190 lbs. I have been a regular smoker for the last few years. My metabolism is pretty high, as I have held this weight for about 4 years without excersize. I am pretty thin. Prior to my job interview, I smoked 4-5 times a week. The day I got my phone screening done and scheduled my first interview was the last time I smoked. I went out and bought a few diifferent home test kits and passed them all at intervals of 5 days out, 10 days out, and 12 days out. My 'official' test was about 14 days after my last hit. During the 14 days, I drank ungodly amounts of water. I was peeing clear and often, at times two to three times an hour. The day of the test, I took an 800% dose of B vitamins, some creatine, and 8, 12 oz. bottles of water. I peed five times before my test. When I took the test, the test center guy told me that I was a little diluted. I explained that it was my first test ever and I thought that I needed to drink a lot of water so I could pee. She told me that if there was a problem, I would be contacted by the company that I was applying with to re-test. I haven't heard back from them in a week, which may be a good thing - or not. Anyone want to posulate as to my chances of being negative? Anyone have any experience taking tests and waiting for results? This is a job at a fortune 500 company. Do you think they would wait before telling me that I failed? Also, do they use a 10 panel test kit? If it is negative but diluted, do they test it more carefully? Does this take more time, further delaying the results? How much time do the testing companies take before reporting results??
I tried calling them to find out if there was a problem (the company that does the testing) and they said that if there was an issue, I would have been contacted.
HELP!!!
I REALLY want this job. I'm way nervous. I could use a good smoke.
Any opinions?

More info: The HR guy said it would be a ten panel test. The lab paperwork lists the following info: Any idea what it means?
Tests to be performed: 35190n SAP 10-50/2000 W/NIT
Test date: 1/15/05
Also, i haven't heard jack from anybody about this (employer/test center) since. Today is 9 days. Granted one of those days was MLKjr. Day.

oh yeah, I peed midstream on all of the tests including the 'real' one. I haven't used any other drugs besides weed in years. I got spooked because my buddy took one of my home tests the day after he smoked all weekend, and he passed. I always eat higher protein, lower carb meals. I ate a lot of salty foods.
bump, bump, bump.
I drink 4-5 cups of coffee every day. I had at least 2 of those 'monster energy drinks' the week leading up to the test. Supposedly they have herbs that cleanse in the formula (along with caffiene and sugar).
I can't think of anything else, but I am happy to answer questions.

Your chances of being negative are probably high as long as you aren't flagged for dilution and required to take a re-test. Ususally it will take anywhere from 3-7 Business days to recieve results possibly longer.

In some cases yes because they will ask you not drink any fluids 3 hours beforehand. But then again some companies won't think a thing of it and just ask you to come in for a re-take.

While it was a good thing that you a midstream sample on the "real" one it, it wasn't such a good idea on the Home Tests. It is best to test the first urine of the day with home tests so that you have a good indicator of whether or not your clean.

Thanks for responding.
I took my test at Quest Diagnostics.
Anyone have any experience waiting for results with them? They told me that they would report the test within 72 hours.
Also, has anyone had to wait to hear from their company and gotten a negative result?
I wrote the recruiter an email to check that everything was in order. He left the door open by saying that he may need to get a transcript from my college so Ihid under that guise. I wrote that I wanted to make sure everything was in order and that I was curious if he still needed my transcript.
Any help is appreciated.
SOme of my fear comes from the fact that my buddy works for this company and he said that a girl got yanked on her first day for a positive drug screen. Most of the people I talked to said that she was probably hired right before the class started.
Still, I'm freaked out.

sounds to me like you're in the clear...like L&L has said, no news is good news, especially if they said you would be contacted if there was a problem/issue. my advice is to not smoke until your first paycheck, then blaze it up

hubby works for a fortune 500 company as a systems admin. they didn't even tell him he passed, he had to assume he just did, which was what happened. Anyway every time I have experienced someone I know failing a screen, the lab actually called them, I think they have to advise you that they are going to report a positive screen to the company. Ex- boyfriend failed twice and both time the lab called, think it was quest.

That's some good info.
Quest hasn't contacted me at all and I still haven't heard from the fortune 500 company.
I guess I'll assume a pass until I hear otherwise.
I wish this was easier. It would be a lot easier if there were actually some laws out there to protect the employee in this type of situation and the labs were required to release the results to both the employer and the person that is being tested. Not knowing is the hard part.
Anyone else failed/heard of someone that failed a quest test? I am wondering if people had similar experiences as burnin did with labs calling the employee and notifying them of a positive result.
Anyone else failed and been notified by the lab?
Help is appreciated.
