| I gave up smoking for a long time so I could pass a piss test and get a job (which I'm happy to say I've done successfully). As one of my earlier posts asked, how often to companies really randomly test? I just had orientation for my new job, and they stated that they randomly test. It's just a matter if your names comes up on the list. You have 24 hours to provide a sample. Oh yeah...the place I work for and the company that does the testing?...Owned by the same parent company. So the potentially pricey tests are technically done "in house". For now, I'm choosing to refrain smoking to avoid any problems, until I decide to find another job with less stringent requirements. So now I ask, how does one protest the invasion of privacy without being labeled as suspicious by their employer? Even if I currently have nothing to hide, how do I maintain my privacy? I probably do have the "option" to refuse the test, which means they'll fire me. I'm not looking for tips on passing a test. I'm staying clean for that. But is there any input on the political end, on how to bring up complaints without being stigmatized? |
