| Hey Folks: One constant theme I read in a lot of these posts is that there is a lot of stress and uncertainty about how a drug test is going to turn out. I am thinkng about developing a confidential drug testing service that is not restricted to physicians, hospitals or employer organizations. In other words, now you can discretely send a sample for testing by a certified laboratory using the same test the hiring company is going to use. The reason for this post is to hear from folks like you about whether there's a demand for this kind of service, I think there is based on my own experiences with the Piss Police but I have to answer to a higher authority (The Wife) before I drop a ton of bucks into this venture. |

| Prospective employers don't announce what version of the drug tests they're going to give you, so there'd be no way to ensure your clients would be getting "the same test". Existing home tests are fairly accurate at the 50 ng/ml threshold, so I don't know what you would be offering that isn't already available without exposing oneself in a way that could easily be monitored by law enforcement agencies. Anyone using your service would be announcing that they use drugs. Gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy hardware costs around $1,000,000 to set up. How much were you planning to invest? Prudent paranoia tells me not to send incriminating evidence to persons unknown.

| Pretty much every lab uses EMIT, you can walk into any lab right now and test yourself-- how would this be any different?? There's no law against having THC metabolites in your urine, theres no risk to testing yourself and the results are confincential between the paying party and the lab. Frankly, lets say you get a notice saying you have to go to XYZ labs for a test for your employer-- you could go to that same lab and check yourself on the day you get the paper work and fail, go back the next day with substitute sample and pass and theres no way the previous results would play into the report to the employer. Basically, all youd be doing is going into the drug test business with a marketing plan to sell to users instead of emplyers. based on how few pwople are willing to pop a few bucks for a home test on this forum, Id say its a poor business proposition-- that said, if you advertised mail order home tests on MJ related sites emphasizing accurate confiedential results, I bet youd sell quite a few to boneheads that dont realize all they need to do is go to a local pharmacy and get one. $1,000,000?? maybe a tenth of that Buzzby |

| You can use the lab directly, and there is a record of it at the lab. Whether that information is truly confidential is uncertain, lawyers have told me that often it isn't and labs are required to keep those records. My view was that using a third party like this service would shield a user from that record at the lab. Most tests use the standard EMIT test, some at 50ng/ml level, some at the 100ng/ml level, typically verified by gas chromatography if teh EMIT is positive. Home test kits are still suspect but serve well as an inexpensive general guide. I have no intention of setting up a lab, just providing a confidential way to use a certified lab. Much like seed companies, records are destroyed once the transaction is completed. Your point that so few people currently are willing to pay for an inexpensive home kit is a real key to whether people would pay more for a certified test. Food for thought, I really appreciate the feedback. |
