I think Perscription Drugs screwed me

It had been 36 days since I had smoked and before that I was about a 2 times a week smoker only. I figured I wouldn't have to dilute or anything. I made sure it wasn't my first piss of the day more like my 4th or 5th of the day. But about 3 hours before my test I took some Prescription Codeine cough Syrup for a cold I had been having. I have the perscription for it to Me. I was never asked at the testing place if I had taken anything or at the job before they sent me to the testing place. Later in the day the testing place called back for my birth date and I told them I had taken a prescription drug that morning. She told me I would be called back if any information was needed.

I find out today that I failed due to a medical reason.

Do you think the codeine cough syrup could be that medical reason?

I'd say it's very likely. Codeine will definitely pop up a positive on the opiate test. Your recourse is to show them the receipt for the prescription and ask for a retest. They can call the drugstore and verify. Drugstores are required to keep records on sales of scheduled drugs.

I don't see any way you could have tested positive for marijuana with your smoking history.

Theres a bad part to this story. I smoked some pot not this past weekend but the weekend before. I have been taking some vitamins and drinking a lot of water but I give myself a snowballs chance in hell of passing at this point. Could I show them the prescription and try to not take the test again. Any Chance of that happening anyone think?
