I posted last month about having an interview out of state and freaking out over the possibility of taking a drug test for the job.

Since then, I was passed over for the out-of-state job for a local candidate but the company was still interested in me so they've offered me a position here in town.

I just accepted the job yesterday and told them I'd start in two weeks. I know they're going to be calling my any day telling me that I need to submit a drug test before I can start.

I haven't smoked in 28 days so I thought I should be ok. Used one of the home test kits yesterday and I'm STILL blowing a positive. This was with no dilution and taken around 8pm last night.

I'm a 29 years old female 5'4 in height and I weigh 135 pounds. My metabolism is screwy because I only eat around once a day...if I eat any sort of junk food I gain weight. I also rarely exercise, other than housework or walking around at work.

I was always a light smoker, only smoked on Friday and Saturday nights off an on for about two years now. I had quit for about five years prior to that. An 1/8th could last me a month.

Here's my plan:

If the test is going to be held at a clinic or somewhere off the job site, I'm going to try to sub with my husband's urine. I am so paranoid that I'm going to get caught or screw up the temps. I'm thinking a condom would be the easiest way to go and I know it sounds stupid but I'm really worried about it breaking!

If the test is going to be held onsite (like the last place I worked at), I guess I'll try dilution. I'm HOPING that if it's going to be onsite that means that they'll wait until my start date and that it'll give me another two weeks to try to clean out.

Is there anything I can do NOW to try to speed up the "cleansing" process? Should I force myself to eat more meals a day? Exercise? Drink more fluids?

This sucks because I have no idea when the test will be. Could be tomorrow, could be two weeks from now.

The other members may have more specific help for you, but I can certainly commiserate. I have about the same stats as you, though I eat a bit more regularly, and was positive at 32 days (waiting till day 40 to test again). I didn't do anything special during my 'cleaning' time, and now I see that was dumb. Am now drinking loads of water and eating several small fibery meals throughout the day. Also, dilution day of will help you, since you haven't smoked in so long. If you do have 2 more weeks, you may be naturally clean.

Lots of exercise will take THC metabolites out of your body fat and into your bloodstream. If you could have a test at any time that would not be a good thing. Keeping your body in fat storing (i.e. pigging out) mode would keep the THC metabolites where they are.

Drinking lots of fluids, esp. diuretics like cranberry juice, will cause you to produce more urine which helps to eliminate THC metabolites from your blood. Keeping your fluid intake high until you've had the test will have the additional benefit of diluting the concentration of them.

OK, just took another "at home" test and it was negative! I still have another one that I'm holding on to for test day but so far, no news as to when that might be. Today is day 32.

Thank you guys so much for easing my mind! I have a lot at stake here with this new job and now I can finally relax and look forward to starting work.

That was helpful I never would have thought of that!

A further update, I rec'd another letter from my employer-to-be today and it said that I will be taking the test of my first day of work, which is the 25th. I'm thinking that I should be golden but that method for subbing in that link seems like the easiest way for a female to go. So. if I need it in the future, I'll be trying it.

I'll have to enlighten my sister...she's been looking for a new job but refuses to quit smoking for any length of time and is terrified of subbing. She's had to turn down three job offers so far once she's found out that they are going to need to test her.
