I posted last week about a pre-employment test I thought would happen this week, July 5-8. But still no word on when I'll have to take it. I've been given a start date (7/11) and where to report. However, I haven't had any contact with the organization since then. I've been clean now for a week and very proud of myself. But I'm wondering when I'll have to take it. Has anyone ever been tested on their first day of work? I'm going to be prepared to sub and dilute on my start date, but I don't even know what type of test it will be.

If anyone has any clue as to how I can find out when I'll be tested (w/o sounding like I'm trying to prep myself) and what type of test it will be...I'd greatly appreciate your help.

I am in the same boat Melt2000. I posted a question about pre-employment screening and never had any responses. I too have a start date of July 11, and signed a release on my employee application stating that I gave them concent to take the necessary specimens to determine the presence of drugs or alcohol for Pre-Employment. I have not received any notice or information on what type of test it will be or if there will even be a test.
I am prepared for dillution and am going to assume a urine test will be given on my first day but this is all speculation. My wife had a pre-employment screening one week after she was hired at a school, so I guess an employer can do it any time. It sucks for me because I am moving out of state for this job so I better pass! Good luck to you and I would just say be ready for a urine test, unless its for a casino then be ready for hair. My job is in IT Security so I hope they don't try and get high tech with hair samples and just go with urine, blood, or saliva.

Post back on this thread after the 11th and let me know how you made out.

You 2 should get home test to make sure you'll pass a test if they decide to get a sample of urine.

I've passed a home-test a few weeks ago and only took one hit since so Im pretty sure I will nail a test with dillution. The question is, if the contract is signed and the start date is given with no reference to a drug screening, can a test still be administered with no notice on the first day of work?

Hey Reef n Melt..i'm in the same boat as you guys. I've got a pre-employment test coming up, and got the email today that they want me to start on the 18th. My situation is a little different though. I havent smoked in over 5 months, so i KNOW i'm clean. My husband is in the military, so i'm totally limited, and living on base doesnt help. I got the job through a contracting company and signed a consent for a pre-employment drug screening urinalysis. I'm in Germany now and heading back to the states to visit for 2 weeks and leaving july 24th, so i'm PRAYING i get tested before i leave, then theres no way i fail. I have ALL intentions on smokin with my friends when i get home, its my only opportunity!! Its a total shame with amsterdam being a skip away!! Wish me luck and i'll do the same for you guys!!

You know that you need a job. The income is needed to support you and your family. You should wait a few days and get to work on the 11th. I'm sure you'll get the answers you need when you get to work. After you start work you'll get all the answers to your questions. Monday is right around the corner, so not smoking for a few more days won't be that hard. Good Luck!

I to just got a job offer from a school district for an IT position and be starting in a few weeks...there will more than likely be a drug test involved. What type of drug test did you wife take? Anyone else ever get tested through a school district? praying its not a hair test.

kidbarone, She had a urine test, but Im not sure if it was a strip or what type. She hadn't smoked for months so she wasn't worried. Good luck to you though.

I believe I will be tested today. After waiting all last week for a call to go take the test, the hr lady calls on Friday. She left me several urgent messages even though I told her I would be out of town. So now its my first day of work and I'm thinking they'll make me go some time today. Still don't know what type of test it will be...I'm assuming urine. But prepared for urine and saliva. And also prepared to sub and dilute.

Say a prayer for a sister. I need this job bad. I will post again this evening with an update.

Finally took my test today with Quest. They did not observe (this was a pre-employment screening) and they didn't check my pockets. All I had to do was lock my purse and wait to flush. I hid the "clean" sample in a condom in my bra (which I kept warm with hot water from a convenience store coffee machine and almost burned off my da** nipple ). I was also prepared by diluting but it was unnecessary.

Supposedly the test results will be back in 24-48 hours. But somehow I received my employee number today and was told I was legally theirs. So not sure if maybe they got the results earlier.

I just thank God for all of you and this Web site. Don't know if I could have done without you. I'm very excited about my new position and hope all continues to go well. I also don't plan on smoking again until I know for sure everything's ok. I'm just so proud of myself for not smoking for nearly two weeks...I don't want to mess up my new high. I actually went out a few times w/o drinking or smoking and had a good time. Didn't think it was possible (hadn't done it since high school).
