| Hi, I smoke about 3 to 4 times a week, i recently applied for a position at the new mental hostpital for the state of california. I stopped smoking about 2 months before i put int he ap and i waited It took a long time to get anything back but i finnaly got a contingency job offer. They said i needed to pass a physical and teburculosis test. So i went in clean and took my physical they took my blod pressure and i cleared the teburculosis test fine and then she signed my medical clearance for work to the state. Now heres the question. I figured after i took my physical and went into the hospital and did all of that if they where going to urine test me they would have already done so. I started smoking again and i got the job. They called and said i was hired and i have about a week before i have to start. Now from what i hear there are alot of people that smoke that are hired already. Im wondering what it the likelyhood that i will be drug tested when i go in for work if ive already taken a physical and tb test and got medicaly cleared. Do you think they may still drug test me and should i stop smoking?? Any help would be great! |

| Bacarat, When you filled out your paper work for your job,they had to disclose if they drug test you. If you don't remember seeing this, then you should be in the clear. However, I know that any hospital that is medicaid/medicare funded MUST be drug tested as per legislation. Many compaines also agree to a drug free workplace to get a discounted rate on worker's comp insurance. I would try and think back to the papers you signed. Companies have to have a written policy regarding drug testing that must be disclosed to the employee. They just can't "spring" one on you. Hope that helps and enjoy your new job! ") |

| As long as the food service is own by the hospital and not by an outside vendor the advice I gave you still stands. Usually on an application for employment or during the interview the company will state this. Did they say that they were a drug free workplace? Why don't you ask a fellow co worker if they test. Say something like, " I bet the pot heads would love to work here because they don't drug test". Say something like that. But hey, I'm a pot head. Maybe I'll come work there! | I had another idea, go to the hospital's website. If they are a drug free work place, then they usually will post it on the website. They do this also because they would want to deter anyone that does drugs from applying there. I have seen different company websites before that clearly state this. Also, does the hospital's website allow you to apply online or do they post jobs online? If you can apply online, you can get a copy of the application and then read it there. Just a thought! | do companies ever have you sign the form to be drug tested and then not drug test you? I am working with a recruiter to get this job, when I went to the interview I had to file out an application, in the application it asked for consent to drug test, I signed......now I am wondering if they are really going to test.....recruiter has said nothing about a test....the other thing is that they are a small company that was just bought by a large company about a year ago, the application was from the large company......hoping maybe large company tests but small subsidary does not test........heres hoping....... |

| green guy, hard to say.. did you read the small print before you signed? you should google both the small company and large company; try to find their official web sites and see if they are a drug free employer, chances are that if the larger one tests then so do the smaller ones.

| so if I can get a week clean which method would you guy recommend. I am a every day smoker for many many years, I am ab out 5'9, 175 in decent shape but I have some weight around mid section, I am 34 so metabolism may have slowed some.......I have a females urine in the freezer that is clean but I am worried about using a females since I am male......any ideas would be helpful |

| gender doesn't matter with urine (unless she is prego).. uhm you should read up on the dillution and substitution methods and see what you're more comfortable with.. |
