I have a theory I want to test with you scientific types...

Assumptions:
The cut off range for tests is 50ng/ml and you provide a 60ml sample
This means you can have mo more than 3000ng's in the sample (homogeneous)

Lets say you're an avid pot smoker with an unknown level of THC metabolites (we'll say its 120ng/ml) and you want to find it.

The Method/Theory:
Pee in a cup (60ml) and check the level, the sample would fail since it contains 7200ng's in it (or 120g/ml).

You take 30ml out and mix it with 30ml of water. Now the concentration should be 3600ng's (30ml of dirty urine at 120ng/ml and 30ml of clean water)
Test again should be positive since 3600ng/60ml = 60ng/ml.

Once again, take 1/2 of that sample, (15ml dirty urine + 15ml water = 60ng/ml) and add 30ml more of water. Now the concentration should be 1800ng's (30ml of dirty urine + water at 60ng/ml and 30ml of clean water)
The test should be negative since 1800/60 = 30ng/ml.

THIS WILL NOT PASS A DRUG TEST SINCE THE SAMPLE WILL BE DILUTED AND THE pH PROBABLY OFF, BUT IT SHOULD TELL YOU YOUR RANGE

Levels:
pass on first test= <50ng/ml
pass on 2nd = <100ng/ml
pass on 3rd = <200ng/ml
pass on 4th = <400ng/ml

QUESTION TO CHEMISTS...
Is that correct? Do urine and water mix nicely? Does water affect the home tests?

Water will not affect the home tests except basically give you a false negative. You can buy validity strips but I have never heard of a test that will give you the actual levels. I go to a lab that gives you the print out from the GC/MS for 15 bucks for a urine test. Lots easier and they do not mind if you come in everyday to see were you are at. Hell they are a business that wants to make money too.

The validity strips are the way to go.
