Hello everyone! I have a few questions I was wondering if any of you could help me out with.

1. I just took a drug test yesterday, the 6405N SAP 5-50 GC/MS test at Quest Diagnostics. I had been clean for 23 days. I took about 4 or 5 tugs off a joint Chrstmas night with all my cousins. Before that, I hadn't smoked in two months. I slammed Cranberry juice, Gatorade, and water for a good week before the test and took alot of Vitamin C and a multi-vitamin. The test day I drank a couple of large bottles of water in the morning b/c I didn't want to be to diluted and tested at 3:00 p.m. with my midstream pee. Based on all this information, does it sound like I have a good or so/so chance of passing? Also, I went over to a head shop and bought 2 home tests called Utests. I took one at night and one in the morning with my first pee. I passed both. I'm looking o.k. aren't I? I just get freaked b/c I hear horror stories all the time. I'm just paranoid b/c I just recieved a great job offer that doesn't ever come around that often. ANY input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks mates.

Thanks sec3. I have heard that the home tests are a tad unreliable. It did test at 50 nanograms and I believe the 5-50 test at Quest/real deal tests at 50 nanograms too. I assume that is what the 50 is in the 5-50. Correct? *$&*%, I paranoid! My family is throwing me a big party to celebrate this job oppotunity and that just freaks me out even more! It's a sweet gig that pays more than I could have hoped. Tell me I'm good, please!


23 days. That's long enough eh? Especially since it was the only time I've puffed in about 4 months???

Like I've said in prior posts, worrying and stressing does no good. You have already taken the test, relax. If it happens, it happens. If not, then worrying about it didn't change the outcome.

you are correct about the 50 ng/mL.

p.s. In my OPINION you probably passed. I cannot say 100% for sure, because as soon as I do that, I get burned, but RELAX!!!

Thanks sec3 again. One more question than I promise I'll relax. If I did fail the original 5-50 test in the THC category, what would be the next step?Am I done for or do they bring you back and test further in that THC dept.? Thanks brother.

For the test you spoke of, if you screened non-negative for THC, the specimen would go to a gas chromatagraph/mass spectrometer to get a quantitative value (ng/mL level) on the THC.

and.... I hate to tell you this....but....

for most pre-employment tests, there are no second chances. the employer will just go to the #2 person who interviewed for the job. if #2 fails the drug tests, then they go to #3, and so on and so forth.

Please wait. Have patients. You said you took the test yesterday. The employer should be able to access results today on a negative lab test. If the employer isn't as anxious as you are to learn the results (and they probably aren't), they might not read the results for a day or two, when they are ready to call you in to start work. I know it's a bummer when you are so nervous about it. You could call the HR dept. and ask when they want you to start work without mentioning the drug test, but you run the risk of being seen as too pushy. Or... you could just wait....

So let me get this straight....if I come up positive on the THC reading, it thens goes into a test/step 2 where they will measure the level of THC? If it is negative, they don't even get to step 2 where they calculate levels?

Also, my job starts a week from today and the lady at the lab told me yesterday that they would send over my relults, I presume to my new employer, today or tomorrow. In this situation I assume no news is good news for today and tomorrow?? I guess if I hear nada, all is good to start on the 25th.

23 days though man for a light smoker?? I've got to be good.

Exactly correct. If you indicate negative on a screening (if the level is not below the cut-off of 50ng/mL), they don't do the GC/MS.

You are also correct that no news is good news. If they gave you a start date, then yes, you are good to start on that date. (don't forget to set the alarm clock).

I just got back from the head shop and bought my third home test. I walk in there and everybody is starting to recognize the paranoid test taker guy is there. What Norm is to Cheers, I'm paranoid test guy to Freaky's. I walk in, everybody in unison...."Paranoid Test Guy"!!!

Anyway sec3, I just took it again and passed. That is three times all under the 50 nanogram level obviously. The package says it's 99% accurate and FDA approved. I've taken all three at different times of the day.

With all that being said and the outside chance of me failing this thing. A question...can any other over the counter drugs trigger a false positive? I thought I read where Advil, nose spray and other things can actually cause you to fail. If this is the case and the outside chance that I failed comes around, I wonder what the chances of getting the employer to do a retest b/c you claim to have had a cold and have been medicating heavily?? Never hurts to have a last ditch back-up plan just in case. Sorry mate if I'm annoying, in fact sorry that I am annoying, I'm not normally like this. Just need to get over this hurdle. Sorry. One more thing. If I was too diluted, would they call me for a retest or is that a fail?
