Default dilution/sub question

so I followed N2's dilution method today with extra strentgh gatorade, salt added. I had about 2qts in my system I would say, and replaced as I voided. Voided vitamin green at hospital right before heading to lab (I chugged some more gatorade in the parking lot to replace what I was about to void). 30 minutes later, got called and had a good volume void with good color. With all the salt/gatorade/extra electrolytes (runners stuff called "Gu") in my system, I almost felt dehydrated though I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case. After leaving, I had to go again in 45 minutes with no replacement. I've been loading creatine for 6 days as well.

question 1 - what are my chances of coming up diluted?

Second question: If I do come up diluted, I'm going to sub on round 2. Both samples (this one and the next one should it be required) will be sent to an out of state lab (thought this was odd for a hospital). If I sub with someone elses sample, is there any way to distinguish the two? Will the out of state lab keep my first sample and compare it to the second in any way? I imagine they get millions of samples, and it would be too much trouble but then again I'm not in the industry.

question 2 - is it safe to sub?

Subbing is actually much safer than diluting.
Not to mention MUCH easier.

is it common to watch someone after coming up diluted in a test that wasn't observed?

Not sure, but usually if it is not enough or adulterated or out of temp they might. Sec3 can tell you

It depends on the creatinine levels and the specific gravity levels. Also, it depends if this was for a pre-employment or random, also if the test was a DOT (regulated) or not. Too many variables, not enough info.

pre-employment screen, sent to a lab, 5 pannel was what the collection hospital told me. Don't know what my creatine and sg levels will be, but I loaded on creatine (approx 30g a day for 5 days prior) and ingested only extra strength gatorade with salt, tums, and electrolyte gel for runners (called gu). It's not a DOT test, it's pre-employment (although it is for a public employer). As far as the test itself, you can check my other thread, I'm going to post the specific lab this afternoon.

If you even get a chance to take another test on a pre-employment dilute, you are doing very good. Sometimes employers just say "forget it" and move on to the next candidate. It is totally up to the employer whether you are given a second test, or whether it is observed or not.

To answer your other question, they will not compare two separate voids done on different days.

IF your sample was suspected by the collector of being substituted (off color, cold, etc..) the collector could have sent that sample in, marked on the CCF "Collection 1 of 2" and also noted the reason for the suspected substitution. Then asked you to give another sample, observed without letting you leave the collection site. You would have up to 3 hours and 40 ounces of water drank evenly over those 3 hours to produce another sample. The second sample would be marked "Collection 2 of 2" and then the lab could compare the two samples, or the MRO could simply cancel the first sample and order a lab analysis on the second only (since it was an observed).

Didn't mean to get so long winded again, sorry.

no problem...

I didn't sub the first time, I diluted. Color was nice, SG I'm sure was high, I'm only worried about how sensitive the creatine levels were. As I said, I did take creatine and eat red meat for 5 days prior.

Anyhow, the company doing the testing is Labcorp in North Carolina. I called, but didn't get any information. Apparently they have different methods and standards of testing depending on the client. I didn't want to mention my prospective employer's name for fear of attracting suspicion.

I'm not worried about a positive result, only a diluted one. I'm hoping the creatine made the difference....haven't heard anything yet. Test was taken on Friday and the collection site told me it would be ready on Monday.

If you're going to dilute instead of sub..which in my opinion is a mistake...why not invest in some urine validity strips so you know you won't test diluted?
