| I am subject to random screens at work; been almost 30 days since last test, please tell me how this normally works. Do i get a notice, is that a law? Or can they spring it on me at anytime? Thanks in advance.... ![]() |

| They can spring it on you at any time. They do not have to give you notice. |

| LOL...give notice for a "random" test? I don't think so.....that'd kind of take the "randomness" out of things don't you think? The entire point of random drug tests is that they can be required at any time...aka....yup you guessed it....RANDOMLY, without warning or notice. The whole point is to catch the testee unaware, hoping they will choose to abstain rather than potentially fail their drug test |

| Okay gang, i know that part of it ..lol ... give me a lil more credit than that. i was really wondering if there are laws or guidelines to go by since i am not a deskjob worker. I am not micromanaged; i make my own schedule.... does that make sense? I dont have set hours, so it seems that i would need some sort of notice in order to respect all of my clients. |

| "I am subject to random screens at work; been almost 30 days since last test, please tell me how this normally works. Do i get a notice, is that a law? Or can they spring it on me at anytime? " If truly Random, you could never be asked to have to submit.... then again you could... as mentioned, Random is Random... However, I have known some in large companies to limit, or bypass those picked on.... get to know your company... without being to nosey....see if you can tell you has been picked...and if they have been picked twice in a row.... ![]() |

| There is no law regulating drug testing in a non-regulated (non-DOT) work environment. Basically it is the employers choice how to conduct its random program. Most employers, to the extent possible, follow the regulations set for DOT testing, where there is no notice given to the donor. Your position may be a bit trickier for the employer. They would probably need to give you notice, at least a few hours, to let you juggle your schedule and client meetings. If this dilema has not presented itself to your employer in the past, your employer's HR Dept. may not be aware of your concerns to your clients. Maybe you could approach your supervisor or the HR Department and voice your concern IF you should be selected for a random test. This scenario could be taken as perfectly normal pro-active type of trouble shooting or problem solving activity. You know your employer better than any of us (obviously), would your employer look at that sort of query as forward thinking or nosey? Food for thought... |

| Random, means no notice. Unless you know the HR person or the way they pick out the employees

| "They would probably need to give you notice, at least a few hours, to let you juggle your schedule and client meetings." My spouse worked for a company that random tested, and they gave 1 hour to get it done... period... Now, having said that, my spouse in the 9 years working there, was never selected.... Think about having a 1 hour solution, i.e. buy some synthetic, keep it in your car trunk....and if selected, you'll have enough time to get it to the right temp, and you will be fine....
