Wanted to share my experience as owed from all the great information I got from this board. Today I gave my pre-employment urine sample and I used QuickFix 4 as a urine substitute. I also went to the lab prepared to give a diluted sample but never needed to. Practicing definitely made perfect in my case.

I practiced both methods:

Diluting went fairly well using N2s hints with a mix of some other posters methods as well. Although I was never really able to keep my specific gravity up even if I used double strong Gatorade and lots of added salt….but all other attributes were fine. For my creatinine (sp?) I went to GNC to buy powdered form creatine and mixed it with water….took 4 heaping spoons a day starting two days (48 hrs) before the test. The guy at GNC told me the powder got into your body much better than the pills and I validated that thought using adulteration test strips. I practiced using home tests and validation strips from meditests to determine if my method worked.

Substituting practice was easy really. Here is what I ultimately chose to do. I bought two 2oz bottles of QuickFix 4 because I had read one or two posts that mentioned that only 2oz was NOT enough. I placed the contents of both bottles into a 4 oz cough syrup plastic bottle that I had washed and alcoholed out. I put the bottle into the microwave for 10 seconds which brought the temp up to 102. I did not find the heat packs which were included with QF4 worked at all because I wanted to stuff the heat wrapped bottle into my pants and they stopped working without fresh air contacting the heat pack. What did work for me tremendously was “neck to arm ThermaCare heat wraps”…which I bought at Wal-Mart in the pharmacy section…these stayed very hot without having to let them breathe fresh air to operate. The wrap was able to encircle the entire 4oz bottle and the sticky backed ends of the wrap made it easy to stick to the bottle. I also bough a Vicks 8 second thermometer…it was the only brand that I was able to disable the speaker on ( could not find silent one per N2s hints.) This brand has a rectangular shaped indent on the back which can be cut open with a razor blade to reveal the speaker. Simply cut the wires and you’re done but make sure not to get any liquid on the exposed circuit board. I bought a pair of large womans nylons, stockings or whatever they are called…the kind that go from your toes to your waist. I cut them off at the knees…pulled them up and stuck the heat wrapped bottle under my nuts. This method kept the bottle above 98 degrees for 6 hours…the heat wrapped bottle alone…without my body heat would keep the same temp for the same time! I found that the bottle would cool down if swirled around and blown on….fast too!

I woke up 3 hours before the test and did my dilution routine as a backup. An hour before the test I put the nylons on, stuffed the heat wrapped bottle and took more water for the road. Before entering the test site I stopped at a bathroom to test my diluted urine using test and adulteration strips….all good except specific gravity…not sure why that never worked really. Then I took my bottles temp…102…so I took the heat pack off the bottle and re-stuffed it. Got the test site and needed to wait 45 minutes. That is when I experienced the most painful feeling of my life! I needed to piss so damn bad that my abdomen hurt, my back hurt and my penis felt like it was going to fall off….plus the nylons were squeezing the hell out of me. But I couldn’t ask to use the mens room ‘cause I’d alert them of somethings going wrong.

The test lady took me into the test bathroom, asked me to empty my pockets, wash my hands, not to flush or run the sink and to piss in the cup. The door closed, I locked it, took a healthy piss into the toilet (leaving extra in my bladder in case I needed to give a natural sample for some reason. I looked around for cameras of which there were none and un-stuffed my sub and filled the cup to the mark she indicated…IT WAS OVER 3.5 OZ! Thank god I had extra. Temp was great! I was careful not to let the bottle make that clicky clicky sound when I opened it (child safety lock. )

Now I don’t know if the lady screened/tested my sample but all she needed to indicate on the lab form was that it was to the correct temp 90-100…the lap form is MEDTOX LABS in MN….

Does anyone know what happens when that lab gets the sample? Do they screen it using a test similar to the home tests or do they do more elaborate tests on it?
