I think (my opinion) MrTinkertrain should not have risked the test. He should have abstained from using until the end of his probation because if he IS tested, the consequences of testing positive by far outlast the consequences of NOT using for 23 days and testing negative. He is basing his decision on rumor and hearsay. Too much of a risk to bet your future on.

By the way -- I voted Yes...and from my viewpoint, this young person needs some intervention; regrettably it will not be coming from one of the better educational sources, that being the Justice system which in most Jurisdiction resembles Reefer Madness, the Musical.

This is not a young person "addicted to pot and can't stop even under threat of a urine test and broken probation" --

This is a young man with a lot of confusion finding some surcease from the melancholia, fear, stress, frustration and emotional pain of his life in a short acting euphoric, pot.

G_d be with you MrTinkertrain --

I agree with you, MamaBudz... I've been there, though. I've simply run out of weed and wanted desperately to smoke because I felt that I needed to (this was within a year having just started, I was 15). But I eventually realized that it wasn't necessary to. And that's what Mr. TinkerTrain needs to realize. Weed isn't necessary. It's nice when it's conveniant, but other than that, you really don't need it. And smoking with 23 days left 'til the end of probation? He needs help. Or, he needs to sit down and meditate. That will be beneficial. I find meditation to be as relaxing as a joint, though of course, in an entirely different way.

I've heard enough people on probation claim that they've been tested at the very end to vote a "yes."

That doesn't mean he won't pass, but I do think he'll be tested.

lol i voted yes b/c i only toked one day, going to try to abstain these last 3 weeks and see... i've been tested only once before and passed during my probation, but im pretty sure they won't test me (o well better safe than sorry!)

Edit: yeah i went through the state's whole drug counselling bs, but im 100% certain im not "addicted" to weed and yeah stress is one big factor on why i toke.

Also i've been a pretty hyper person all my life. Always been told i had ADD and even prescribed crap by doctors to "control" it. (sadly i didn't get ridialin or adderol or else i'd still be presribed ;P) Ehh... pot really really helps if im feeling too twitchy or hyper it just mellows me out so much.

I always try not to toke right before bed though b/c i've noticed it intefers with REM rest (as in you won't dream) and i've always heard REM is important for the brain!

Also im not on probation although im on court supervision and "randomized drug testing".

I'll tell yaz though... toking yesterday was VERY VERY nice LoL. I've been so stressed out for awhile (haven't toked in almost over a year since that's how long my supervision has been). I feel such a peace of mind atm, but i know i can't keep toking or else i'll be caught. So once this brain/body buzz dies out probably be going to be stressed for the next 3 or 2 weeks, but after i stay clean, pass my test and all it will be worth it!

That's why I voted yes too. Too many stories of people being tested RIGHT at the end. I think it's probably a common tactic, after all, their chances of catching you are high and then boom, you get more probation because you couldn't wait!

MrT:

You sound like you are aware of your internal feelings -- and rather aware of the working of your brain (commenting on your need for REM sleep)

Have you thought about, independently, seeking the assistance of a psychiatrist to ascertain if there are some longer acting medications available by prescription that might be correct for you that could counteract the feelings you are trying to suppress through the use of marijuana?

The result would be two fold -

1. You would supress the uncomfortable feelings, thereby increasing the quality of your life

2. Marijuana would return to it's function as a recreational drug for that purpose -- you would be able to enjoy it a helluva lot more in that capacity.

It is important to keep in mind that a good portion of the street drugs that folks try to get the effects/cures desired are the ones the psychiatric community has "thrown out" because of side effects even the FDA didn't want to deal with.

Might as well look into some of the legal medications -- especially if you have the ability to have the cost covered by health insurance.

Worth a try -- I took the gamble -- and it paid off very well.

Good luck -- stay clean 22 more days to go

They will want to be sure your clean before you are released from probation.

It happened to me. I smoked very close to the end of my term. Got tested and received another six months probation on the day my original term should have ended.
