| I was reading about testing and came across this, "Cutoff and Detection Post Dose The initial screening cutoff level is 50 ng/ml. The GC/MS cutoff level is 15 ng/ml. The elimination half-life of marijuana ranges from 14-38 hours. At the initial cutoff of 50 ng/ml, the daily user will remain positive for perhaps 7 to 30 days after cessation. At the confirmation level of 15 ng/ml, the frequent user will be positive for perhaps as long as 15 weeks. Marijuana metabolites' storage and slow release from lipid tissues is the reason for this long detection period. " Ok, for a pre-employment test do they use GC/MS? fuk if so i think im screwed cause it says it could be positive for up to 15 weeks. |

| The quote is self-contradictory - besides being wrong. If the half-life of THC metabolites in the body is 38 hours and at time A you got it down to 50 ng/ml, at time A + 38 it would be down to 25 ng/ml, and at time A + 76 it would be down to 12.5 ng/ml, passing the GC/MS. It would be three days, not eleven additional weeks. What's really going on is that the tests are functionally equivalent. The immunoassay test is looking at 31 THC metabolites. The GC/MS is looking at only the primary THC metabolite. 50 immunoassay = 15 GC/MS.
