well, sh*t. Ive been abstaining for 2 weeks, have a quick metabolism, a week ago i hometested negative, today i hometested positive.

I have no idea what the 'f' happened.

The reason you may have gotten a negative once then a week later tested positive on a home test is you might have taken the test at different times of the day after drinking differing amounts of fluid.

The first test may have been diluted (even without really trying if you took the test after drinking a good amount of fluid). The second test may have been first urine of the day. To get a good idea of your progress towards cleaning up, use the home tests during the same part of the day, after the same fluid intake.

yeah - i may or may not sub. I think im going to drink some sort of sports drink or detox drink this wednesday, and then test myself. if i come out negative ill just drive down to the lab to do the test.

If it coems back 'diluted' i'll overnight quickfix, and use that when i go to retake.

On pre-employment tests, you may not get the opportunity to re-test even for a negative dilute. It is totally up to the employer. If they don't want to mess with you, they will go to the next name on the list. It is very worth your while to do it right the first time. Employers must pay for each test you take. Some may not want to pay for someone twice. They figure if you are drinking that much fluid before your test, you may be trying to hide something, or they just don't want to track in that much detail. They may only have two columns. Pass or fail.
Anything that doesn't get a negative, goes into the fail column and you don't get a call back. Pre-employments aren't required to give you the benefit of the doubt. They may just move on to the next applicant. This happens I would estimate about 20% of the time for negative dilute results.

Might have been a bad test also, I took one once and it said I was positive and I knew for sure I wasnt so I immediatley took another one and it was negative. Sec makes some good points on your issue also.
