Default Not all home tests are created equal.

Well, I just wanted to warn you about a lower quality kit that is out there before someone learns the hard way. I've been cleaning myself out for 22 days and two days ago, I tested negative with a CVS based home kit. It was "First Check" brand. I thought I was gold, but I thought I would test myself again just for kicks. I went back to CVS and they were sold out. So, I go up the road to Walgreen's. I got one of the "At Home" brand tests and it was completely different. It came with a temp strip on the cup, and a much more detailed test setup. I took it today and tested possitive with it. So, I think the CVS one is crap and totally not worth buying. Get the Walgreen's one, it is like 1 dollar more, but has the temp strip and is obviously way more sensitive.

I've read that some people can test negative one day and positive a day or few days later. The "metabolite elimination" seems to be able to vary a bit for some people until you are really cleaned out. I tested myself with First Check a few weeks ago (negative), the other one you mentioned with temperature strip -- can't remember name off the top of my head -- just two days ago (negative), and another First Check again this morning (negative). All were tested with the first morning's "void." Maybe you're still eliminating THC metabolites that are secreting a bit more or less depending on the day? Good luck!

I am glad that this thread was started. I took the "at-home" brand test and tested negative. I didn't take it at the first void of the day though.

I really want to know -- if you test negative on a good home test, are you in the clear? Or is there reason still to do the dilution method? If I am in the clear and know I will test negative because I tested negative on the at-home test, I would rather NOT do dilution, in case I mess something up and come out too diluted or suspicious of something. Plus - I don't have any creatine supplements and never eat red meat. I don't want that to ruin it either when I could have tested negative normally in the first place.

However if i should still use the dilution method, I will.

I have a similar story. I bought some tests online that cost me about 2 dollars each. I was coming up positive for over 9 weeks. Last week it flip-flop between positive and negative. I decided to get the At-home test from walgreens, and compare the two. With the afternoon test that I took, the online test said positive, and the walgreens test said negative. This morning, I compaired again with my first void. The online test said positive, and the walgreens test had a faint negative.

Both factors could be causing the discrepancies in the results. Angie70 makes a very valid point. The amount of activity you do from one day to the next might fluctuate the levels of THC secreted from the body.

However, in eztoker1122's case, I really think he got a bad batch of tests. 9 weeks is a very long time for your body structure, smoking history and activity level to be still showing positive. (It's possible, but unlikely).

Not much in this world is 100% guaranteed. Too bad home tests fall into that catagory.

I wonder if the reason the online tests are so cheap is that they are from a bad lot #. Or almost ready to expire. Just another side thought

Or been frozen. The packaging for most of the instant type if tests including home tests specifically says not to store under 36 degrees (some say 38 degrees). If they were frozen during transport, this could cause some bad readings as well.

Bong bought his\her test at CVS and Walgreen's not online. Unreliable home test throw another variable into the "pass the test game".
It seems to be just a fluke with a few people. Hopefully the problem doesn't become more wide spread. Something to keep watch for in the threads, I guess. Sure throws a wrench in the works for the people that use the home test. At least a few people. Just thought I would throw in my two cents.

hmmmm.... i am kinda in the same situation as other people here.

i have home tested myself using tests i purchased online and it barely showed a line indicating i was negative.(passing result)

after reading this thread i decided to go and buy another test from CVS(it was firstcheck brand) and i passed with flying colors.

so now i dont know what to do. the control line on the online tests is showing up so the test seems to be valid. i dont understand why the FirstCheck test indicated that i passed with a much darker test line and i get such a faint line with the online test. both tests were used on the same sample.

more uncertainty........

damn i cant wait until i take my test so i can just smoke again.
