I've done a few searches for this, as I know how it is to run a board where no one uses the damned SEARCH button. Anyway, I'll just get down to the skinny of it.

Probation, supervised test. They hand me a cup. The cop holds the lid in a sealed grey/silver bag. I pee. He opens the bag, hands me the lid, has me close it. The lid has a black strip on the top with some numbers, but the cop always wants to know why I'm staring at it so I never can get a good look. Anyway, I go back to the main office and flip the cup over for 30 seconds and viola, insta-results. There is some kind of powder or something inside the lid.

Anyway, anyone have any ideas on what kind of test this is, given my limited information? Are these tests easier to dilute with? Thanks a bunch!

It sounds like your basic instant type of test with a few bells and whistles so they can charge the PD more than the average price for the tests. Although the "Powder or something inside the lid" has me concerned. I have never seen any substance in the lid. There are tests with the test strips in the lid. Basically this is an instant test with a single collection (as opposed to split). When you turn the cup over, the black strip is the temperature strip and the urine then activates the testing strips. They tout these types of cups because there is less exposure to urine for the collector. It is an immunoassay instant test. It might also have integrity checks such as Specific Gravity, PH levels and Oxidation detection built into the lid. This would be seen as 3 small squares, one should be white or very light blue if it is normal for Oxidation, Greenish for Specific Gravity and orange if normal for the Ph level.

You're right, I did my last UA test today and managed to get a good look at the lid. There wasn't any powder, just your average strip. I was a bit worried due to having smoked about 2 weeks ago but I passed with flying colors thats to the tips on this board!
