Ok, so I know you can refridgerate a sample if your substituting but what if it's a random drug screen? I mean, what if you brought the sample in a cooler to work and used icepacks to keep it cool? Would that make the sample any less usuable? Or do most employers give employees a little while to get it done?

The refrigeration is fine, it's being able to get it to the appropriate warm temperature in time that's the problem. The best thing would be to try to figure out from other employees whether the random drug test is done right there on the spot or if you have a few houts notice, which would allow you time to warm the specimen.

You could use some Quick Fix also. It does not need to be refrigerated so, it will not take as long to get to temp.

Dude, I am not sure about all companies in general but, my company gives no advanced warning that you are to be randomly tested. I recently came up for random testing and, I was called to our office, told that I had been picked, and literally escorted to the testing lab by a fellow employee that would not let me out of her site until the lab tech took me into the room. Point, I had no time to do, say, or prepare anything. Good Luck!

That is true. If you were given notice, they would be called scheduled drug test.

I seem to have misunderstood the nature of the "thread" that was posted by "the dude". I was under the impression that we, as fellows in this common cause, were in these open forums to offer help, and possibly, be a source of information that might avert a bad outcome for someone facing, what I found to be, one of the scariest infringements of our right to choose how we, as free and intellectual persons, spend our hard earned personal time. Had I known that my comments, given in empathy to "the dude", were to be a target for adulescence; to be belittled to give rise to an attempt at superficial humor, and/or ego inflation, I would have commented thus: "the dude, I wish I could help but, I didn't know that random testing actually meant random. I thought that they would give me time to prepare"! maybe they will for you, or maybe not"?"DUH".
But I Digress. Good luck anyway and I hope you have the time you need to prepare. I do not wish my outcome on anyone. Peace

Thank you as well for making this new member feel so comfortable about offering help in a venue that is new to me. I believe that your comment, as well as your acknowledgement of the person from whom you took your lead, puts you in league with the very social oppressors of which we are to band against.
I may lose my membership for these replies to you, and your leader, but I find both of your comments unnessary and irrelavent to the subject. I further believe that, if your going to direct new members to read the posting requirements, you yourself should refresh your memories as to the requirements concerning "Flaming".

It is called HUMOR. Lighten up a little bit for God's sake. I don't think you should lose your membership for posting your opinion, but I do think you need to lighten up. Life is short.

You can't hear the tone of voice used in an email. sec3 may have not meant his/her reply to be humorous.
I did and don't think I need to apologize for it. All 3 post were fact and it may keep someone from asking " Are random test done randomly or are they scheduled?" If you think that is funny or degrading, search the forums. It has been asked before. Maybe not in thosed exact words, but it has been asked.
