26 Male 5'10" 135 lbs Above Average-High Matabolism Very little working out Test: Pre-Employment, Quest Diagnostics, SAP 10-50 GC/MS Heavy user for 10 years Clean: 4/30-5/6, 5/26-Test Date Date Test Taken: 6/7 Usage last 30 days: Clean the days listed above, mid-heavy rest of time. Cleansing: Drank fair amount of water. Used about 12 Detoxify Pre-Cleansing Herbal capsules in 12-13 days leading up to test. Used Detoxify Ready Clean day of test. Home Test: Tested negative on 3rd void after using Ready Clean. Took Quest's test with 4th void. I'm giving myself an ulcer as I wait for the results. Any best guesses on what my results would be, or when I could expect to obtain them? The Quest site says that the results for most test are availble in 24 hours... Thanks

Some would describe me as the epitome of averageness. My main concerns are the possibility of them skipping the EMIT and going straight to GC/MS. And the fact that when I took the home test, the "negative line" was slightly faded on one side, but pretty stong on the other.

They won't do the GCMS test UNLESS they get a positive on the EMIT test. That is when they do the confirmatory GCMS test. If you test negative on the EMIT, they won't run the GCMS. And, both tests test for the same "amount" of metabolites. One is not a more "lower sensitivity" than the other. Read, read, read everything on this site to inform yourself.

I believe the EMIT is for like 9 carboxies and the GC/MS is for one, which eliminates the false positives.

Actually, the EMIT recognizes a composite of all 31 metabolite concentrations. The psychoactive ingredient in marijuana is 11-nor-D-9-tetrahyrocanibinol (THC). This is oxidized by the body and comes out as 31 different metabolites. The most prevalent form is 11-nor-D-9-tetrahyrocanibinolic acid (THCA). As Angie indicated, if a sample tests above the cutoff level of the EMIT (usually at 50 ng), the sample gets sent to the GC/MS for confirmation. The GC/MS cutoff number is lower at 15 ng, because the machine only identifies one of the 31 metabolites, which is the 11-nor-D-9-tetrahyrocanibinolic acid, mentioned previously. To pass, that one metabolite must be below the 15 ng cutoff level. Hope that helps a little ![]()
