I have a friend's sample that he/she was gracious enough to provide. However, I am not quite sure it is enough volume.

Can I safely add a little bit of distilled water to it and "make more"? And by a little bit, I really mean a little bit. Like maybe 10% more or so.

Since its real urine, I can't imagine that this would be a problem. However, as they say -- leave nothing to chance.

Has anyone tried this successfully?

I wouldn't if I were you. For pre-employment, The most you will need is 2 ounces. Probably, as with almost 1/2 employers (DOT regulated employers as well), you will need only 1-1/2 ounces. About 1/2 the employers require only 1 ounce.

Out of curiosity, what would be the effect? I am no chemist but I don't quite understand WHY it would be a problem. Distilled water is pure H20 afterall and since you urine contains mostly H20 anyway, how would adding "just a bit" affect things one way or the other?

Your reply also makes me wonder about the powdered urine available online. (note: not synthetics, but real lyophilized urine). Have their been problems mixing it up?

K, I understand. (I'm going with it as-is). Also, just to note -- its not pre-employment. It's disability insurance. I am already employed, etc. This is a policy after the fact.

Legend if you want to sub. I have used the QF 4.0 many times. It works!!!! So will someones clean sample.

I have a clean sample from a clean friend. My question was about adding a lil bit of distilled H20 in order to get more urine. The consensus seems to be "dont do it".

I have not measured how much I have since it is now frozen and awaiting the day I have to take the test.

Im no chemist, but a biologist, and I guess, a chemist. I'd say you could mix a very small fraction of water with no problem, but i would just go as is like sec said.
