So, I need some advise/help. I had a drug test on Monday afternoon. It was a the Quest 6450n SAP 5-50. It has been 22 days since I last smoked, and I am pretty much a once a week smoker. The week before I quit, I did have a friend come in from out of town, and we smoked three times that week. I worked out pretty regularly for a few weeks, and then have been vegging the last week as suggested. I am 5'7 and definitely a bit overweight for a girl and have a pretty slow metabolism. I took home tests 3 days before the test and the day of the test using my first void of the day. Both times I got a very faint double line indicating a negative. Just to be safe, I went ahead and followed N2's dilution sticky, but cut it in half. I thought I would be fine, but I just got a call from my prospective employer and they said that they need me to come in for a retest. They said that the test that I took did not test for esctacy, and they are requiring that to be done (they did indicate that I past the other test, but I am still suspicious). Does this sound legitimate or should I be concerned? Thanks for your help guys!

It happens sometimes, the CCF didn't get changed to correctly reflect the employers current policy or the collector used an old form. This is unfortunate as I believe you prepared perfectly for your drug test. -Unless you have not smoked since you took the first test. Then all the better for you. If the employer changed it's policy to try to test for the current craze in drug use (i.e. phasing out PCP and adding esctacy (sp?)) and either didn't have time to order new forms from the lab, or the lab made a mistake in printing the form, it could happen.

That makes me feel a bit better. I guess I am paranoid that something came back and they wanted to do a retest and were just not wanting to tell me. I am dealing with a placement agency and not the employer themselves. I will let you know what happens.

Okay, so I went to the placement company today to pick up the form and it is the same exact test on it from last time. I called them back to double check that they gave me the right form and they said that the lab would know when I gave them my name and would know to run the additional test for Ectacy. I think this is still very strange. I have not smoked, and did 1/2 the dilution process just like last time so we will see what happens. I am suppose to start this job on Monday, so I am not sure what they will have me do since I doubt labs come back that quick. Do you think they found something and are just making an excuse to get me retested? If they found something, wouldn't they just send the sample they had to the lab for a retest?

Sec3 can correct me if I am wrong and he did. I thought the GC/MS was performed on the B sample but it isn't. Read below. Sorry for the bad info but I thought I read that somewhere as well as using 1 ml.

Sorry Boobs, I am going to have to correct you. The split sample is put into storage. The lab uses 15 ml of the primary specimen for the screening. IF a screening shows non-negative for a banned substance, then the remaining 15 ml is put through the confirmation process. The split or "B" specimen is put into storage. If the "A" specimen is confirmed positive, a MRO should call the donor and ask about any prescriptions or OTC's that could possibly cause the positive reading. If no LEGAL reason is found for the presence of a banned substance, the MRO will report to the employer that the donor is positive. At that time, the donor has 72 hours to request the split or "B" specimen be sent to a second lab to have the same test run on it as was done to the "A" specimen. They won't screen the "B" specimen though. It is run through the GC/MS for the same THC metabolite as the "A" specimen had tested positive for. Keep in mind that there is no provision who should pay for this second laboratory's services. Most of the time, If the second lab confirms the results of the first lab, usually the employer will not reimburse the donor for the added expense. IF the 2nd lab contradicts the results of the first lab, the employer usually reimburses the lab expenses.
