| Hi all, I've been checking out all the great advice on here and feel greatly comforted by it all, just knowing many do pass while still smoking. My question is I have already had the interview, took a written test, got the job and know when I start and when I go for my 3 week training. Nothing has been said about a test, NOTHING! Does this mean there is no test or will they spring it on me after I show up for work? I checked the application and it said nothing about tests either. I can't imagine they would not test in this field but is that possible? Don't they have to give me notice unless they have stated they have random testing, which I'm pretty sure they don't do. Anyone have any info or opinions would be great. Thanks in advance. |

| Maybe you'll get a notice about a drug test closer to when you start. It never hurts to be prepared and abstain until you have more info. Some people never abstain, relying on substitution or dilutiojn to get them through, but in my eyes those methods are second best to the feeling of actually being clean for a test, if you have the ability to be so. In the meantime, can any other employees fill you in? You can ask the human resources dept. too if you don't feel uncomortable doing so.

| I start in one week and while I have cut way down, I have not stopped. I don't know anyone to ask, but I did have a friend call the place and ask what you had to do to get a job and they said physical, but no one has ever mentioned one to me. Does that usually mean a test too? Its impossible to prepare for a test if you don't know you have one. Dammit, if I just knew something. It is for a county job and I asked someone who works for the county but in a different place and he said they haven't started drug testing yet but were going to start. Could I have beat the deadline by getting the job already? I know I am really hoping here, wishing and praying really. I just wish I knew! Anyone with similar experience? |

| If it is for a County job, and they are just starting to test, there might be something in the County Commissioner Meeting Minutes about it. If it is a recently adopted policy, it had to be discussed at one point. Go over the past 3-4 months of minutes. They are public record and are kept at the County Recorder's office. It can't hurt to do a little research into what they have been discussing over the past few months. There might be a clue there. |
