If I was using an instant test, I would pay particular attention to the integrity check on the split cup. If it was questionably in the slightest, due to the color, I would be more apt to send it to the lab for confirmation than if it was questionable and had good color.

That is the only reason to have color (yellow, not blue or green) in the urine.

Very good story, with some good info. I bet you get some weird ones.

Not really weird ones, just stupid ones. What I really need is a "roll eyes" smiley rubber stamp for some of the excuses I get.

Hint: If your specimen is very cold (outside of the cup feels cool to the touch) DON'T, I repeat DO NOT try to use the excuse that "I just drank a milkshake". Unless you got brain freeze all the way to your pelvic region, there is no way a milkshake will cause urine to be cold.

There are a number of harmless chemicals that when ingested will turn your urine various colors. (We used to use them on people as a prank when I was in college.) If you know that you're going to test negative anyway, it might be fun to take one of these before a UA.

I don't know how much fun this would be for you, but I know I would not have very much fun with it. If the urine is off color (not just clear or very strong yellow) such having a blue, or dark green tint, I am required to send that specimen in to a lab, and also collect another specimen; giving the donor 3 hours and up to 40 ounces of water to produce another specimen. The second collection must be observed. If the donor refuses, then it is considered a positive.

Not really very much fun for either of us.

(the above is for DOT regulated tests).

You know if you eat a bunch of beets your urine will turn red. I'm in the process of making some clean urine for storage. After reading Buzzby's post I thought, that would be funny, eat some beets then next time I have to piss I could give them a cup of pink urine but now that idea doesn't seem so swell!

Definitely won't go with the methylene blue though!
