All B vitamins are water soluble, and are dispersed throughout the body and must be replenished daily with any excess excreted in the urine (which turns a bright yellow color). Google is fan-freakin'-tastic. I knew I should have bought some on that stock. ![]()

| I know onetoke just said it was any B vitamin, but everyting I have ever read says that B-2 riboflavin is the preferred vitamin B of choice. Any of the different Vitamin B's may change the color of your urine to yellow but when diluting that effect may not be strong enough unless it is B-2. I would stick to B-2. I know there are some health care professionals who would probably weigh in on this but I think it really needs to be B-2. |

Any excess is excreted in the urine, frequently imparting a bright yellow color. As the human body does not store riboflavin it is thought deficiency is common. Riboflavin is yellow or orange-yellow in colour and in addition to being used as a food colouring it is also used to fortify some foods. It can be found in baby foods, breakfast cereals, sauces, processed cheese, fruit drinks and vitamin-enriched milk products as well as being widely used in vitamin supplements. Riboflavin is responsible for the harmless side effect of coloring a vitamin taker's urine bright yellow. Under the tabs for the other individual B vitamins it didn't say anything about coloring the urine. So I think it may be safe to say that the B vitamins in general can color your urine orange but the one most responsible is B-2 and taking B-2 will give you the most bang for your buck (crossing my fingers that someone doesn't blast me!) Onetoke, Wikipedia is usually pretty good source of info but sometimes it can be off a little or confusing. Not trying to start anything with you sparky but I just was trying to help clear things up! You know I also saw that post by Buzzby about the importance of urine color a few days ago and I got the impression that he said color was important but not as important as some of the other things they test like say specific gravity or creatinine clearance. A slight difference on what you said but I just wanted to put in my 2 cents worth because if you have to take one of those instant test (or a lab), there might be a situation where the tester could turn down the sample if it looked diluted. Gosh, that might be nit picking but I would hate for someone to fail over something so easily preventable. I could see where color would be less important than other things because color is subjective whereas the other things have specific lab values that are more objective.Cool, huh? Have a good one sparky! ![]()

| Note, Just because all B vitamins are water soluble doesn't mean that all b vitamins will color the urine the same. Refraction angles of molecules in the urine will determine this and not all b vitamins will reflect the light the same. Of course buzzby is right about specific gravity ect... so color really doesnt matter. Regards |
