Hey All,

Just a quick question regarding home tests. I have passed 4 in the last few days at various times throughout the day without attempting to dilute or anything like that. Is it safe to assume I can go ahead and take my pre-employment with no worries? A little background: I am a big guy, but exercise alot, with 15-20 miles bike rides several times a week and weight lifting at least 3 days a week. I had taken a 9 month hiatus from smoking and started again in May, but smoked very little. I only smoked 3/8s over a 1.5 month time frame. During that time frame I was also dieting and working out heavily and lost about 10 pounds. I guess my question is, if I am passing all of these home tests, do I have anything to worry about? I quit smoking (for good) somewhere between 3-4 weeks ago and as I stated above, have passed 4 at home tests without trying to do so. I have the option of waiting up until my start date (July 31st) to take the test, but I want to take it this Monday, as this new job requires me to relocate to another state and I need to sign a lease on Friday in order to relocate in time. I want to go into the test without attempting anything, simply drinking some gatorade, testing myself before leaving, and maybe peeing 1/2 hour before the test? Are these home tests accurate enough that I can trust I will pass? The company testing me goes by the standad 50 ng/cl, which is the same as the home tests I have been using. Thanks in advance!

you will be fine to take the test this monday. don't formally dilute, just drink a few glasses of water an hour or two beforehand for good measure, but that's likely unnecessary. i think you meant to write 50 ng/ml, not 50 ng/cl. 50 ng/cl would be equal to 5 ng/ml, which is an extremely sensitive screening test that i don't even think exists in everyday use. the home tests are usually 50 ng/ml. good luck.

Thanks for the advice/encouragement. Well, I should point out that prior to today I had never tested myself using my first void of the morning. Then this morning I got a reply from Sec 3 instructing me to do so to be entirely sure. Unfortunately, I had already peed, so I just waited and refused to drink anything until I could force myself to pee again. I did and passed. I should also point out that I am passing these tests, but that the line is nowhere near as solid as the control line. It is clearly visible, just not as solid as the other line. However, this is five home tests I have taken now and passed all of them. I am feeling pretty confident that as long as I just drink some gatorade or coffee like I normally do, I will pass just fine. I am starting to truly believe that the anguish and worry this has caused me is just not worth smoking. I have literally thought of nothing else since I got my offer letter, which told me I have the job provided I pass the test.
