Default Another detection-time/employment question

I frequently see detection time estimations for 'casual' use, or even one-time use. In my case, my system was clean before a couple of weekends ago. I smoked a couple of KB bowls on a Sunday. Then, two weeks later (this past weekend), I consumed about a couple of bowls total (maybe slightly more) between Saturday and Sunday night. I'm 5'10", 165lbs with excellent metabolism. I will also start going back to the gym this week to do 30mins of cardio, working my way up to 60mins w/in a week or two. I have been out of the gym for a few weeks, but going back is no big deal as I frequently take lay-offs. I haven't seen any detection window chart that specific, so if anyone can help shed any light on what kind of time frame I can expect, I would appreciate it. From everything I've read, I would think 2 weeks or so.

On a related note, about pre-employment screens...if you've been offered and accepted a job, is it likely that the new employer will require you to take a test before your start date? I have notified my current employer of my acceptance, and will probably remain there for another 3 weeks (may end up being 2). I just suddenly find myself somewhat concerned that the new guys will get me to take one before I start. Although, the application form that I filled out mentioned nothing directly about it, but it did have that ominous phrase 'A Drug-Free Workplace' on the very back of it. And no one involved in my interviewing/hiring process has mentioned it either. My current job tested me the day that I started, and I have a feeling that the new job will do the same. I'm just curious as to whether or not anyone has experienced anything different.

Thanks!

There is your answer in my opinion.

I'd be surprised if the didn't test you before you start work. How else could they maintain a "Drug-Free Workplace". I wouldn't be at all surprised if they pop employees with random tests.

That is my assupmtion. What I'm concerned about is that they might call me before my start date (3 weeks away) and get me to go to some occupational drug screen place. I talked with my future supervisor this morning via email to confirm my start date and he made no mention of it. If I don't have to test until the day I start, then I'm not worried about it.

If I were you, I'd be prepared to be tested any time between now and as long as you work there. After you're there you can ask around and see if they random test or not. Think about being ready to substitute at any time. Pre-employment and employment random tests are almost never observed, so substitution would be a viable option.
