Instruction

So last year I used the very excellent info and community from these boards to do a nice easy sub and pass a screening. Too bad I quit the job because it sucked so bad hah!

But recently I decided to really try and improve my economic situation and get a new career. So after 4 years of being a daily smoker I quit cold turkey.

I don't have the exact dates but I stopped smoking anywhere from 5-6 weeks ago. I admit that once in that time period I did get high (Nacho Libre was too funny to not see loaded!) It wasn't that hard to quit for awhile, and I saw some interesting affects on my health. I've lost about 22 lbs. for example.

My disappointment is that I thought it was a good time to see where I was at with passing a test. I went down to our local headshop and bought a "Dr.Green's" test cassette. I waited until this morning to use my first void and test. I'm bummed because of the results.

I, technically, passed. There is indeed a faint line in the "T" area. However the "T" line is dark and clearly defined. Plus it took the full 7 minutes for the negative line to appear.

Now I know that isn't all bad news, but I was expecting more I guess. My feeling is that if I didn't use my first void, used a little dilution and aspirin that I would probably pass.

I'm just bummed that 5+ weeks of "work" (lol) didn't give me better results. My goal was to be able to get any job I wanted no stress - free and clean. I'm going to wait another week and test again and see where I'm at.

Pertinent info: Male, age 30ish, 190lbs., 5' 10". Daily smoker (not multiple times a day), no smoking for at least 40 days.


Any opinions or general words of wisdom appreciated at this point.

I don't know what a "Dr. Green's" test casette is, but I suggest going to your friendly, neighborhood drug store and buying a THC test, approved by the FDA and following government standards for most pre-employ 50 ng ua's. You don't mention if you have a pre-employ ua in the near future, but chances are that if you continue to abstain and only occassionally fall off the weed wagon (such as the movie you mentioned) you will be clean in four-five days. If you just stick with your plan to forego weed until you land a new gig, you should pass with no problem.

As far as the faint line, I, too, have concerns about that. According to all the test instructions that come with the tests, a faint line is a negative and that it is quite common for it to be in varying shades, compared to the control sample.

I also bought some tests off ebay and the line shows up within the first 30 seconds, although it does appear faint. You're probably right at the cusp of passing. You may have more informed results using tests from a drug store or those off of ebay, than the one from your head shop.

I'm not sure if the forum rules allow you to hotlink items here, but the Dr.Greens thing is basically a sealed foil packet containing what appears to a standard test strip and a small plastic squeeze dropper. It has an area to drip the sample, a "T" and a "C" area and some labels on the strip that say "THC", ie - that the lines indicates postive.

Again, the product seems legit enough in the way it's constructed, and if you Google the brand name they have a pot related products website. My feeling is they are just repackaged test strips that someone is making money off.

But anyway yea, my plan is to abstain until I get a new job. (I'm trying to relocate to a new town post breakup nastiness so it needs to be in a certain area too) Other than my one day of weakness I've been doing well and had no problems stressing over being high. On the 4th I went out of town and even watched all my friends get high and I came out okay

So thanks for the reply, and I will do some legwork on regular test strips from a pharmacy. Most things in a headshop are so damn overpriced anyway!
