| I haven't been able to find an answer to this anywhere so I apologize if this has already been addressed. I applied for life insurance through work. I didn't expect a physical exam, stupid me. The physical included a urine sample. 250lbs, 6' 4-5 times a week smoker. Clean for two weeks, lots of water, detox drink (the big one) the night before, peed nearly clear into the sample. I don't think I'll pass, I should have done my research before applying for the insurance. So, they'll probably deny my application, or I'll come up dilute and have to retest. My main worry is that they'll report it to my employer, even though the application is for individual insurance and not group. Is this considered confidential medical information or am I going to be in hot water with the boss? |

If you retest follow the dilution sticky instructions carefully or practice the substitution method. Also get a home test kit and check yourself to see where you stand before the next one. Good Luck. | ||

| My Opinion: Just because an employer sponsors a health plan for its workers, that doesn't negate the HIPPA laws. There are still things that cannot be divulged about your medical file. That being said... an employer sponsored drug test is reportable to the employer (obviously). On the other hand (I think I have used 3 hands so far), most life insurance helath exams don't include a drug test. They are more interested in life threatening diseases and conditions. Not really much help, but 2 out of 3 aint bad (I love Meat Loaf). ![]() |
